Position Overview:

The Climate Corporation is revolutionizing the agriculture industry with a platform and products that are helping the world’s farmers sustainably increase productivity with digital tools. We are looking for an individual to lead and grow a team of experienced and talented software engineers to build and deliver Agronomic Intelligence through Climate’s Digital Farming Platform(DFP). As an Agronomic Intelligence Engineering Manager you will build agriculture solutions driven by data science models, services that can be put to use for various product needs within the organization, as well as in partner products. The scope of work includes evaluation of alpha/research models to determine product readiness and determining the DFP domains that need to be developed to accomplish the organization goal.

What You Will Do:

Engineering Managers have not only the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of engineers. You not only optimize your own code but make sure engineers are able to optimize theirs. As an Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. The Agronomic Intelligence Engineering team works on multiple solutions, in areas such as agronomic recommendations, yield and disease predictions, experiment design and analysis, planting/fertilizer/fungicide scripts, algorithmic models development,  development and integration with DFP(Digital Farming Platform); the list goes on and is growing every day. Operating with scale and speed, our exceptional software engineers are just getting started -- and as a manager, you guide the way.

Basic Qualifications:  

  • BS in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to grow and lead a team of engineers in a production engineering environment.
  • Experience developing solutions based on various data science modeling techniques.
  • Experience developing and deploying services on AWS or similar cloud infrastructure.
  • Ability to foster a positive attitude within the team, and be a mentor and guide for team members

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing solutions using Python.
  • Proven management experience in a fast paced startup environment.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, Kanban or similar software development practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Help define and drive organization goals
  • Drive technical projects and provide leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment.
  • Manage a team of software engineers, including task planning and code reviews.
  • Determine the technical feasibility of the scope of work by actively working with technical leads and architects, and other developers and teams as necessary 
  • Take responsibility for the overall planning, execution, and success of complex technical projects.
  • Contribute technically to projects.
  • Work closely with the Science team and ensure great collaboration between Engineering and Science teams to ensure we’re building the best Agronomic Intelligence solutions.
  • Represent the team in all cross-team and stakeholder communication
