Product Manager, Machine Compatibility

The Machine Compatibility Product Manager will work within the Product team, and will be focused on all aspects of integrating Climate FieldView with farming equipment, such as tractors, combines, sprayers, seeders, etc, to collect, organize, and visualize agriculture field operation data.  In this role, you will be responsible for working side-by-side with a team that includes product managers and engineers to expand compatibility with agriculture equipment and their precision farming control systems as well as continuously improve the ability to support the entire portfolio of compatible machines.  

Location: Climate’s Chicago, IL office

What You Will Do:

  • Specify new product features and articulate feature functionality for software development.
  • Create and maintain compatibility, setup, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Act as a technical liaison between Climate and OEM Ag Equipment partners
  • Travel to the field to do initial data collection, investigate how / where to connect necessary electronics, and help conduct alpha/beta testing with growers on new equipment platforms.
  • Help train the technical product support and regional sales teams, so they are well informed and equipped to answer customer questions about compatibility.
  • Act as a point of contact for compatibility questions from internal support and sales team members in the field.

Travel Expectations:

  • Regular travel to visit equipment at customer farms and partner sites.  Scheduling is typically flexible.
  • Regular travel to meet in person and stay connected with Product and Engineering development teams in Morton, IL and St. Louis, Mo.
  • Opportunity for international travel as needs arise to help other global regions add compatibility, and to help get the international teams up to speed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Agricultural Engineering, Agriculture Systems Management, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering or related fields
  • Prior farming experience with precision agriculture equipment.
  • Outstanding problem solving, troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Prior experience operating and setting up equipment with gps auto-guidance systems and variable rate application systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agriculture Engineering degree
  • Proficient with a variety of FMIS software programs
  • Proficient with 3D modeling software (ProE, SolidWorks, Fusion 360)
  • Comfortable interpreting electrical wiring schematics and J1939 and ISOBUS CAN specifications.
  • Ability to communicate and present to large groups.
  • Positive attitude, self-starter, and highly motivated.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
