Senior/Lead Data Scientist - Enterprise Modeling Team

Position Overview:

The Climate Corporation's mission is to help the world’s farmers sustainably increase their productivity with digital tools. We are seeking a highly motivated professional who shares our passion for innovation in the area of predictive analytics to join our Enterprise Modeling team within the Science organization.  You will have the opportunity to work with big data to develop novel & complex predictive models for generating insights from farmers’ data. As part of our highly dynamic group, you will work side-by-side with a team of exceptional data scientists with diverse backgrounds (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics etc..) to foster your career growth and development, while delivering next-generation scientific breakthroughs. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Lead projects leveraging strong statistical expertise, unique data sets and predictive agronomic models to identify novel product and customer insights, creating value for our customers through the enterprise
  • Partner with diverse teams across the company to understand value opportunities and implement solutions
  • Design and prototype models using diverse techniques that include, but are not limited to, deep learning, machine learning, data mining, and statistical modeling
  • Work with large, rich and complex data using spark and SQL. Collaborate with our data quality team to build understanding of strengths and limitations of datasets and provide solutions to more effectively use data
  • Present your findings to cross functional partners and propose recommendations to senior management

Basic Qualifications 

  • PhD with 3 years or Masters with 5 years of post-school experience in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or another highly quantitative discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in multiple regression, multivariate analysis, mixed models and machine learning techniques
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, precise and actionable manner
  • Strong proficiency with scientific computing languages (e.g. Python) and data analysis and modeling toolkits (e.g. pandas, sklearn, matplotlib, scipy)
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability and inclination to work in multi-disciplinary environments, and desire to see ideas realized in practice
  • Strong drive to learn new topics and skills and to develop innovative products for our customers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in farming, plant breeding or physiology, or agronomy
  • Experience using data science to lead the inquiry and evaluation of complex business problems
  • Experience working with row crop data (e.g. corn and soy)
  • Domain knowledge and experience across the seed business, including Research, Development and/or the Commercial organization
