Position Overview:

The New Business Model (NBM) NA Incubator In-Silico Testing Lead will support Digital Farming Systems (DFS) Incubator teams and serve as a key link between Venture Teams and data science teams across functions to develop key insights from experiments and prove/disprove various desirability, feasibility, and viability assumptions and hypotheses

In-Silico Experimentation is the defined process and capability to leverage data and analytics to support the rapid testing, refinement, and optimization of NBM programs. It is a key testing tool that brings diverse teams together to explore and quantify the value creation, market opportunities, agronomic/financial risk, and simulated outcomes for NBM programs. In-Silico Experimentation process leverages internal and external existing data sets to test, refine, and optimize venture programs end-to-end (ag, pricing, risk) business cases. de-risk, optimize, and expedite in-field NBM launches and scaling to learn at a more rapid pace with less investment than is possible using in-field trials encompassing a full a growing season The evaluation of innovative concepts and corresponding outcomes and impacts from science/agronomic, marketing, supply, and financial models will build confidence and drive success of NBM program advancement through stage gate governance.

The NBM NA Incubator In-Silico Testing Lead is responsible for stabilizing, managing, continuously improving, and communicating ongoing In-Silico Experimentation status and evolving increased value to the DFS organization. Additionally, the lead is responsible for designing and implementing a globalization strategy for In Silico Experimentation process and governance, including regional business adaptation, alignment, and socialization of the In-Silico Experimentation process with leadership and key stakeholders. The role serves as a key leader, driving connectivity and understanding across various regional Venture Leads, DFS Engineering organization, DFS Science organization, DFS Product organization, and BCS Decision Science teams. The role will drive development of experimentation process, prioritize business questions, prioritize and resource, communicate outcomes across organizations, and standardize the In Silico process from regional to global.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide thought leadership towards feasibility and viability pressure-testing of NBM program assumptions and hypotheses using simulated experiments. Lead strategic development of In-Silico capabilities, tooling, and scaling incorporating feedback from technical teams, Venture Leads, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Navigate a changing organizational landscape, identify key stakeholders and forums for stabilization of the NA In-Silico testing framework, then refine and optimize the operating model and processes to deliver confidence in NBM programs.
  • Design the expansion strategy for NBM In-Silico testing, adapting process and governance to additional Region Incubator needs for successful implementation and execution of experiments and processes across global ventures. Leverage learnings and best practices from North America In-Silico process for accelerated and optimal global rollout, propose roadmap and resource needs to scale, then drive global implementation and execution.
  • Accountable for iteration and management of In-Silico process delivery including intake, resourcing, prioritization, review, and reporting across ventures and eventually across regions.
  • Champion of In-Silico process results, impacts, and process across DFS and BCS organizations. Lead an In-Silico tool steering committee and host bi-annual review of progress, best practices, and learnings to drive confidence in NBM testing with senior leadership and sponsors.
  • Partner with Venture Leads, DFS Science and Product Management to serve as liaison between business and technical teams. Ensure that complex technical results are communicated in a meaningful way to business stakeholders, as well as facilitate understanding of business cases and commercial needs for technical contributors and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on cross functional projects with Bayer and DFS data scientists, domain experts, and commercial organization. Influence experiment owners to focus on practical significance and actionability of experiment results.
  • Set direction and deliverables for In-Silico process team currently made up of one direct report and several matrix roles across Product Management, Incubator, and DFS Science.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree +8 years' experience in a relevant discipline
  • Experience with agribusiness, complex programs, innovation, and Agile methodology
  • Experience translating and communicating business requirements into data-based analysis and understanding financial/business implications of results
  • Ability to translate complex technical analyses, scientific methods and significance to non-technical audiences internally and externally
  • Experience leading and facilitating cross-functional team collaborations to deliver results and influence leadership
  • Ability to establish relationships quickly and develop deep/diverse networks; drive challenging discussions forward while maintaining a positive team culture
  • Ability to break down complex topics and identify key gaps, questions, and limiting factors to develop actionable plans
  • Experience with cross functional process design, optimization, management, and scaling
  • Possess a heads-up disposition to bring new and innovative simulation and experimental tactics to improve In-Silico process and impact and build confidence in NBM programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters or MBA +5 years or PhD +3 years in a relevant discipline
  • Quick learner, customer focused, and excellent communicator
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, develop, and implement innovative, unique solutions
  • Strong business knowledge of digital agriculture, new business models and/or testing frameworks.
  • Experience driving design and implementation of a regional process to a global scale.
  • Ability to build and coach effective teams

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $133,000.00 to $200,000.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
