Terran Orbital Corporation is seeking a(n) experienced Spacecraft Electrical Integration Engineering Manager at our Irvine, CA location. As a Spacecraft Electrical Integration Engineering Manager, the candidate will manage the electrical integration team in addition to being a contributor working within a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative spacecraft solutions for internal and external customers.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for managing a team of electrical integration engineers and ensuring that the integration processes are carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop people processes and tools for spacecraft electrical integration
  • Provide guidance and support to your team, monitor program progress, and identify and resolve any technical or integration issues that arise during the process.
  • Responsible for coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth collaboration and successful integration of the electrical systems within the spacecraft.
  • Collaborating with the spacecraft design team to develop electrical system requirements, architecture, and subsystem designs for spacecraft missions. This involves selecting appropriate components, designing electrical interfaces, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Work in an environment supporting new and ongoing developments and customer furnished hardware.
  • Concurrently manage involvement in multiple projects at various stages.
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues related to electrical system integration. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to diagnose and rectify problems during testing and launch preparations.
  • Conduct vehicle operation / DITL Telemetry results requirement definition and review for vehicle operational verification.
  • Generating technical documentation, reports, and procedures for electrical system integration activities. Maintaining accurate records of integration activities, test results, and modifications made during the integration process.
  • Coordinating with spacecraft design engineers, system engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful integration of electrical systems. Providing technical expertise and guidance to team members and effectively communicating integration progress and issues.
  • Adhering to quality assurance processes and standards to ensure the reliability and safety of electrical systems. Participating in design reviews, audits, and inspections to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Identify requirements, design, and modify detailed harness schematics to integrate a variety of electromechanical components and units.
  • Prepare harness assembly instructions and test procedures, incorporating industry standards and best practices for complex vehicle wire harnesses.
  • Evaluate harness component requirements for application and environmental application through analysis and testing.
  • Supports assembly, integration, and test activities.
  • Provides engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejections, production support requests, revision requests).
  • Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture.
  • Participates in technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:

  • BS or MS in Engineering discipline or equivalent degree.
  • 5 years of functional management experience
  • Experience with system integration and test procedure development and execution
  • Experience with vehicle assembly and support
  • Experience in Electrical System architecture definition and design
  • 5+ years’ experience developing wire interface diagrams.
  • Ability to interpret wire harness requirements and then create, draw, release schematics and wire list data packages.
  • Experience working with manufacturing and quality methods, fabrication, or assembly processes.
  • Ability to create, draw, release detailed wire harness assembly and installation drawings.
  • Hands on experience with wire harness manufacture and installation for space applications.  Satellite experience preferred.
  • A working knowledge of hardware assembly practices.
  • Experience with debugging and evaluation of assembly failures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Energy and passion to invent and create new solutions, challenge the status quo and drive positive change.
  • Ability and willingness to go above and beyond one’s comfort zone when it comes to learning about other technologies and applications.

ADDITIONAL DIFFERENTIATORS

  • Understand vehicle-level systems engineering including communications, functionality trade-offs, grounding, and EMC strategies.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD and PLM software.
  • Familiarity with IPC, industry standards requirements and acceptance.
  • Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles, ambiguity, and unexpected changes in direction.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.

Salary Range $140,000-$190,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
