Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Sr. Systems Engineer – Command and Data Handling to join our growing team. Reporting to the Product Director, the Sr. Systems Engineer will support the Command Data Handling engineering team in the development, analysis, and definition of spacecraft modules             

             

Key Duties and Responsibilities:              

             

Use technical expertise to define and manage Command and Data Handling (C&DH) subsystem module specifications, interface control documents, and concept of operationsWork with the Spacecraft development team to define Terran Orbital standard platform C&DH requirementsDevelop product data sheets, product manuals, product interface documentation, test plans and verification/qualification planSustaining engineering for units in build and post-delivery support.             

 

Qualifications and Skills:              

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline  
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or similar disciplines related to spacecraft and modules  
  • Familiarity with satellite systems, subsystems & modules  
  • Experience with satellite program lifecycles, development flows, test events, and verification and validation  
  • Experience with requirements development, derivation, decomposition and traceability  
  • Experience with trade studies   
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team  

Desired Experience:             

  • Experience with product and post-delivery sustaining support of products  
  • Experience with development of space-qualified electronics  
  • Experience with system architecture design for reliability, reusability, and scalability
  • Experience with production integration and on-orbit troubleshooting and support  
  • Familiarity with satellite system budgets including mass, power, and link budgets  
  • Familiarity with worst-case circuit analysis, fault tree analysis, and component derating analysis  
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Python, and SolidWorks

Salary Range $130,000-$180,000            

             

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Physical Demands              

An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. In performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit or stand for long durations of time, in addition to bending, reaching, and walking. This would require the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. This position is generally sedentary, with substantial computer usage.             

            

Work Environment              

The job operates in a professional office environment but in a manufacturing company. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
