Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Programs Director to join our growing team. Reporting to the SVP of Programs and the Program VP, the Programs Director will provide leadership to the ground or space segment of a large system of systems program.  The selected candidate will manage and coordinate the engineering, supply chain, finance, operations, planning, launch services and mission operations to meet contractual requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary team efforts necessary to ensure program technical, schedule and cost objectives are met.
  • Create and implement successful program plans that proactively address risk and opportunities and provide a high degree of confidence to meet contract deliverable requirements
  • Monitor program schedule progress, cost performance, risks and opportunities and prepare monthly program financial reports for management review
  • Interface with the customer regarding the program
  • Motivate, coach, and mentor employees to achieve peak productivity and performance
  • Support all program reviews both internal, and customer-facing, including leading dry-runs and rehearsals to ensure critical executive feedback, is received
  • Analyze cost and revenue performance of the program, providing revenue forecasts and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet profitability targets
  • Develop accurate presentations and reports to support internal management and customer reviews
  • Develop, track and report visual metrics, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); react to metrics by identifying and solving problems, making improvements, and advancing process control

Qualification And Skills 

  • Bachelor's degree (Master preferred) in engineering or related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of work experience in the aerospace industry or similar high-technology systems
  • Experience as a responsible Systems Engineer or Program Manager on aerospace projects
  • It may be required of the applicant to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance
  • Background in aerospace systems, spacecraft ground systems, and/or payload development
  • Ability to understand contracts, business law, and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and apply the concepts and principles, including knowledge of cost accounting principles and finance
  • Demonstrate supervisory experience and proficiency in task management
  • Proven success in managing projects through control/scheduling, engineering principles
  • Ability to help organize and manage a team of personnel, develop program schedules, and control budgets to meet required deadlines
  • Ability to read technical publications and communicate across organizational levels
  • Must have a practical interpretation and knowledge of US trade regulations and ITAR regulations

Salary Range $150,000-$250,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Physical Demands

An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. In performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit or stand for long durations of time, in addition to bending, reaching, and walking. This would require the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. This position is generally sedentary, with substantial computer usage.

Work Environment

The job operates in a professional office environment but in a manufacturing company. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
