We are seeking a skilled Aerospace AIV Engineer to join our dynamic team.  Reporting to the VP Spacecraft AIV, the Aerospace AIV Engineer will be responsible for the assembly, integration, and verification of aerospace systems, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements. He/She will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to execute complex integration and testing procedures, contributing to the success of space missions and aerospace projects.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support assembly, integration and verification (AI&V) activities including generation of build procedures and test plans/procedures.
  • Develop detailed assembly procedures and plans for aerospace hardware, ensuring adherence to engineering specifications and project requirements.
  • Coordinate the integration of subsystems and components into larger aerospace systems. Ensure proper alignment, connectivity, and functionality of integrated systems through meticulous testing and verification processes.
  • Design and implement comprehensive test plans to evaluate the performance and functionality of aerospace systems, including environmental testing (thermal, vibration, vacuum, etc.) and functional testing.
  • Maintain rigorous quality control throughout the assembly, integration, and testing phases, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of assembly, integration, and test activities, including test procedures, test results, and any deviations from expected performance.
  • Assess potential risks associated with assembly, integration, and testing activities, developing mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide regular updates on project progress and status.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 1- 3 years of experience in aerospace assembly, integration, and testing, preferably within the aerospace industry or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace engineering principles, including structural mechanics, dynamics, electronics and materials science.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom and ESD precautionary measures.
  • Familiarity with National Instruments equipment.
  • Competency with a variety of testing equipment, including power supplies, DC loads, DAQs, test harnesses.
  • Competency with a variety of hand tools, including torque wrenches, crimping tools, epoxy applicators, tap & die sets, deburring tools, rotary tools, drill press, bandsaw.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and tight deadlines.

Desired skills:

  • IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-620 are not required but are highly desired.
  • Previous Atlassian software experience; JIRA familiarity is highly desired.
  • Excellent communication (written/verbal) and can effectively retain and disperse information throughout all levels of management.
  • Fluent English and Italian are mandatory (expected C1)
