Terran Orbital is seeking a motivated Ground Software Engineer to contribute to the Ground Software (GSW) development at our Irvine, CA location.   
Terran Orbital is a leading worldwide provider of nanosatellite and microsatellite vehicles, services, and solutions to Commercial and Government customers. The team is responsible for building and maintaining software applications and tools that enable end-to-end operations of our spacecraft as well as the entire ground segment. The Ground Systems Engineer will support Terran Orbital in developing, deploying, and sustaining a large system of systems spacecraft constellation.  
The position requires you having experience software systems engineering processes and documentation. You will interact and coordinate daily with numerous stakeholders (Program Managers, System Engineers, and external/customer organizations). The successful candidate will have excellent communication and team skills. 
  
Key Duties and Responsibilities  
  • Support various systems architecting and engineering activities such as system requirements definition, design, interface management, data architecture development, verification and validation, integration, performance analysis, lifecycle cost analysis & estimation, decision analysis, and physical configuration assessments
  • Manage ground segment technical and interface requirements. Manage interface negotiation with external stakeholders. Oversee requirements and interface verification
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Support development of system engineering items such as CONOPs, requirements definitions (or features, themes, epics), system testing, algorithm document review, and interfaces to other application development efforts
  • Support the development and refinement of acquisition strategies as well as identifying program execution issues and provide recommendations when possible
 Qualifications and Skills  
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or relevant discipline and 5 years or more of experience in technical program management and systems engineering
  • 3 years experience in Software Systems Engineering, Design, and Architecture Development
Distinguishing Qualifications and Skills  
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering with application focus
  • Agile software methodology development
  • Understanding of and experience with Git, CI/CD, DevOps, Cloud, Containerization, and Kubernetes
  • MBSE expertise and MBSE development tools (e.g. Cameo)
  • Experience developing in Python
  • Familiarity with testing aerospace flight hardware
  • Developing with industry standard tool suites to include Atlassian
  • Space Mission Operations Support

Salary Range $100,000-$132,000 
Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Physical Demands  
An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. In performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit or stand for long durations of time, in addition to bending, reaching, and walking. This would require the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. This position is generally sedentary, with substantial computer usage. 
 
Work Environment  
The job operates in a professional office environment but in a manufacturing company. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
