Your Role:

The Consulting Team Manager is responsible for the development, mentoring and performance of a Professional Services team of consultants. The Team Manager supports the Sr. Manager’s objective to build a community of highly talented consultants that provide repeatable high-quality outcomes to our clients. Team Managers are responsible for assisting in onboarding new consultants, overall team training needs, ensuring each consultant has a plan for success, supporting consultant’s client delivery success and fostering teamwork in alignment with the Tenable Core Values.

The candidate should have verifiable people management experience and adhere to industry and company best practices for service delivery. It is absolutely imperative that the person exhibit strong leadership qualities. 

Your Opportunity:

  • Executing client engagements that exceed expectations based on strong understanding of the client’s business and their unique needs by:

    • Providing recommendations on architecture, deployment, and configuration of Tenable solutions
    • Providing best practices regarding usage of Tenable Products in client environments
    • Advising clients on process best practices enabled by Tenable solutions
    • Advising on integration scenarios to clarify desired workflows, outcomes and fit within a client security blueprint in order to scope and initiate integration work 
    • Research user needs and requirements and identify areas where changes can make maximum impact
    • Creating additional value for clients through continual insights and consultative advice based on experience with the Tenable products, the client, their industry, established standards, and industry and company best practices
    • Assisting clients with the development of a Cyber Exposure Deployment Roadmap
    • Delivering advisory workshops such as the Cyber Exposure workshop
  • Assist the Senior Manager in building a team of highly talented consultants providing repeatable high-quality outcomes to our clients

    • Recruiting, training, development, mentoring and performance of consultants
    • Conduct 1-on-1’s, team meetings, and participate in regular / annual performance reviews (in compliance with HR schedule)
    • Assist in the development and management of individual growth plans; measure and monitor in order to provide positive feedback on accomplishments and to ensure immediate action is taken to address shortfalls
    • Support field readiness for new product / feature rollout
    • Train and ensure consultants are following procedures for successful project kick-off, planning, execution, closure and time keeping (i.e., CSAT Surveys & shadowing)
    • Assessing and acting on Customer Satisfaction responses and cascading the feedback to each team member
    • Support capacity, pipeline and backlog planning within Service Delivery
    • Monitor and manage all consultant activities and ensure alignment with Professional Services vision, core values and goals
  • Liaise with the Sr. Manager Professional Services to:

    • Ensure appropriate assignment of consultants to projects based on skills required to achieve engagement objectives
    • Remove obstacles to consultant success and customer satisfaction
    • Support the Senior Manager, Professional Services in the follow-up, escalation and taking action if service delivery is not meeting expectations
    • Ensure timely remittance of timecards and downstream approval
  • Assist in identifying changes required to continually improve and mature our service delivery

    • Support the development and implementation of standardized processes and procedures to ensure effective, efficient and repeatable service delivery
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal delivery methods, tools and new portfolio offerings
    • Partner with peer managers (globally), EMs and other internal stakeholder groups to enhance and optimize best practices; document for use internally and with clients
    • Prioritize business as usual (BAU) work activities and balance the workload across the team
    • Support talent assessments, compensation planning and succession planning
    • Team & business planning (tactical & strategic)
  • Assist Tenable Technical Support, Engagement Managers and the Senior Manager when dealing with an onsite client escalation
  • Work closely with PS Portfolio to provide input and support on services products/offerings
  • Support the enablement of Tenable partners by supporting their training, mentoring, certifying, and overall validation
  • Assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide critical issue management, balance trade-offs, and encourage risk-taking to maximize business value
  • Sustain positive relationships with all internal departments and look for opportunities to raise the awareness of the value and knowledge within the Professional Services team

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in IT, security, risk management or professional services
  • 1-2 years of management experience in IT consulting, information security and/or related fields
  • Experience running consulting/delivery teams and overseeing project execution.
  • Project delivery oversight experience
  • Understanding of security principles, policies and industry best practices
  • Familiarity with industry compliance and security standards including PCI DSS, SOC-1&2, ISO 27001, etc
  • Knowledge of networks, Linux/Unix and Windows, patch deployment and system configuration
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; written communication skills include: formal documentation, policies and procedures, white papers, case studies, etc
  • Consulting skills with an emphasis on client management, objection handling and a commitment to client success
  • Work well under the pressure and not risk averse
  • Demonstrated ability to manage/train/support people in a remote environment
  • Conflict management, enthusiasm and ability to motivate a team
  • Ability to prioritize and demonstrate relentless discipline in achieving goals
  • Strong ownership, bias for action and willingness to roll-up sleeves to meet objectives
  • Ability to deliver billable consulting work
  • Willing and able to travel to client sites up to as required
