Job Description – Sheet Metal Foreman
Summary/Objective:
Foremen are responsible for leading a Sheet Metal crew to perform work safely and productively. Responsible for managing their daily production goals and solving daily leadership challenges for their crew while fostering a positive culture.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Work with crew to complete all aspects of assigned job including tear-off of existing gutters and coping cap, installations, and other tasks assigned.
- Completes job site clean-up such as trash and debris control.
- May have to assist with any or all tasks assigned to the job.
- Assists the crew with handling tools as needed.
- Participate in trainings including on the job training and companywide mandatory trainings.
- Must have a positive attitude, dedicated work ethic and ability to excel in a fast-paced work environment.
- Must be dependable and honest.
- Must be organized with an attention to detail.
- Must accurately read tape measure.
- Ability to work with various metals.
- Ability to safely operate power tools and equipment.
- Must be able to interact with customers in a professional manner.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, team members and supervisor.
- Working overtime, late nights and on weekends may be required if necessary.
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Works to increase team efficiency and uphold high standards of safety at all times.
- Must be self-motivated and punctual.
- Must be able to multi-task and have excellent follow up skills both internally and externally.
- Monitor equipment utilization and maintenance.
- Mentor less-experienced crew members on basic construction skills and safety compliance.
- Perform work that meets the company standard of having quality, productive, and safe work.
- Assists with detailed work.
- Ability to analyze information and evaluate problems.
- Ability to look for ways to improve and promote quality that demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
- Ensures materials and equipment are securely stored to avoid fire, wind, storm, or theft hazards.
- Responsible for documenting conditions and findings through FCS or other methods.
- Ability to read blueprints and prepare materials list.
- Ability to instruct, lead, and manage crews.
- Submits timely credit card receipts and time sheets.
Position Requirements:

- Ability to work various hours/schedules with maintaining excellent attendance.
- Willingness and ability to learn new tasks.
- Ability to work with diverse teams with a mutual level of respect.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Maintain required tools and personal protective equipment needed to perform the job.
- Ability to understand and communicate in either English and Spanish.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical, agility test, and drug screen.
- Background checks may be required for some jobs.
- Valid driver’s license is strongly preferred.
Experience:
- Architectural sheet metal experience is required; minimum 5 years or equivalent preferred.
- Experience with standing seam metal roof system, metal wall panel system, plate and ACM metal wall panel systems is required.
- Experience in single-ply membrane systems is required.
- Supervisory or management experience is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- The position will be performed outdoors, and weather conditions will be a huge factor as work will occur in the heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.
- Will be required to operate and/or perform work out of a scissor/boom lift or other similar equipment.
- This position will be exposed to dusty and dirty conditions as well as hazardous materials.
- Work is done at elevated surface levels and occasionally on steep roofs.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb a 40+ft ladder.
- Ability to stand on feet and kneel for long periods of time, 12+ hours.
- Ability to work on elevated levels.
- Ability to work in dusty/dirty conditions.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (heat/cold).
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time nonexempt position. Hours of work and start times vary depending on the season. This position is entry level and has no supervisory responsibilities.
