We are seeking a full-time Shop Mechanic for our Sterling IL location.
The shop mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of commercial roofing equipment; the scheduling of routine maintenance; basic repair of heavy equipment, small engine repair and maintaining a clean work environment.
Job Functions:
- Perform preventative and predictive basic maintenance of commercial roofing equipment, vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Small electronic repair
- Diagnosing mechanical problems on equipment and performing the repair
- Small engine repair
- Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment as needed
- Complete maintenance and repair logs
- Communicate with manager on status of work
- Maintain and secure work tools
- Keep a clean and maintained work area
- Monitor inventory and ordering new parts as needed
- Ability to function on a team
- Creative thinking to solve the job problems
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Fleet maintenance and service scheduling
- Small engine repair and maintenance experience
- Automotive repair and maintenance experience
- Heavy equipment basic repair and maintenance experience
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Valid US Drivers License
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manual
- Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with associates
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Diesel engine repair and maintenance experience
- Certification from a vocational or trade school is preferred
- Hydraulic/pneumatic system experience
- Electronic capabilities
Pay Rate: $25 - $35 per hour depending on experience
