Job Description – Mechanic
Summary/Objective
The mechanic position is responsible for all vehicle and equipment repairs, troubleshooting, setup, and preventative maintenance service.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Plans, develops, directs, and organizes the operations of the equipment shop including preparing and monitoring the budget.
- Provides routine maintenance on all vehicles and equipment regarding OSHA and DOT regulations.
- Performs mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform requires maintenance and service.
- Repairs all work orders that are turned in by Mahaney staff.
- Assists with vehicle accidents and out of service violations as they occur.
- Ensures completeness of repairs for all work orders that are turned in by company staff.
- Monitors and maintains good housekeeping practices inside and the surrounding area outside of the shop. Including but not limited to trash removal, utilizing the rid-on floor scrubber, etc.
- Build and maintain a positive relationship with all vendors and customers.
- Assists with vehicle accidents and out of service violations as they occur.
- Verify all work is complete and safe to operate.
- Assists with maintaining shop tools and material inventory.
- May assist with other warehouse/yard/shop duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 2+ years of related experience in operating, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and equipment.
- Working knowledge of all tools and equipment to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair possible problems with gas and/or diesel engine, electronic and non-electronic; transmissions, manual and automatic as well as electronic; vehicle suspensions; braking systems, air and mechanical as well as ABS systems.
- Experience in repairing aerial platforms including boom lifts and scissor lifts is preferred.
- Valid drivers license and ability to be on company drivers insurance is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Standard physical must be passed to obtain this position.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position. Normal business hours will vary depending on the season. Some weekends and travel will be required.
