Your Opportunity: Optima Graphics, a division of Taylor Corporation, is seeking an Estimator / Planner responsible for the quick and efficient processing of quotes for multiple product line and maintaining a balance between company profitability and the ability to secure the order

 

 

Your Responsibilities: 

  • Receive and respond to quote request from the sales group and the Customer Service department for Core/Commercial, Digital and Direct Mail job categories
  • Review and prepare response to RFP’s and large direct opportunities by gathering details and compiling data for all production cost according to specifications.
  • Understand the “cost” pricing structure; factors such as material cost, spoilage and make ready.
  • Provide continual evaluation of processes and procedures.
  • Set the standard for developing appropriate and effective working relationships with Sales Management, BDMs, Sales Representatives and vendors.
  • Prepare pricing spreadsheet per requirements.
  • Work with individual Strategic Account Manager and Sales Reps to understand customer requirements.
  • Research product to ensure product knowledge as well as best avenue for vendor pricing.
  • Helps determine necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints.
  • Estimate job costs and apply the appropriate markup based on product category.
  • Maintain estimating system; close quotes, de-activate old quotes, add/change supplier codes and contact names.
  • Research appropriate sources for quotes by utilizing the supplier database/library
  • Work with suppliers to gain knowledge of their production capabilities, learn about new products, and continue to broaden our vendor base.
  • Plan work the most cost-efficient way through the plant and outside vendors.
  • Strive to improve processes and cost efficiencies.
  • Ability to convert estimate into a working plan including detailed imposition ready layouts to prepress and finishing departments that meet the quality standards for company and the client

 

Your Shift: 

  • Monday – Friday 9:00am – 5:30pm and overtime as needed

 

You Must Have: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent, with one to three years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Advanced negotiation skills and knowledge of press capabilities and printing procedures.
  • Basic understanding of the print process along with basic paper knowledge; paper grades.
  • Knowledge and the ability to use computerized estimating systems, Monarch, and Kodak Upfront Production Planning Software.
  • Understanding of page layouts, press laybacks, etc.
  • Ability to effectively respond to questions from management, customers, sales representatives, and employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent and draw and interpret graphs; Strong math skills.
  • Manage telephone calls professionally and efficiently; ability to communicate both written and verbally
  • Ability to work well under pressure; work with diverse personalities and deal effectively with conflict.
  • Strong work ethics, dependable, accountable, and displays a sense of urgency.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook system to include calendar, e-mail, task list, etc.; excellent computer (Microsoft Office Suite) and data entry skills.
  • Proficient in Excel with the ability to create spreadsheets with simple formulas
  • Ability to use experience and independent judgment to make effective decisions
  • Excellent problem solving (think outside the box), follow-up, decision making, and organizational skills
  • Attention to details with minimal errors.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook system to include calendar, e-mail, task list, etc.; excellent computer (Microsoft Office Suite) and data entry skills, and proficient in Excel with the ability to create spreadsheets with simple formulas 
  • Ability to use experience and independent judgment to make effective decisions

We Would Also Prefer: 

  • Advanced negotiation skills and knowledge of press capabilities and printing procedures
  • A two or four year degree
