POSITION SUMMARY

The LX Designer applies instructional design strategies and methodologies, as well as content writing expertise, to deliver high-quality training solutions and content across all levels in the organization. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The LX Designer will:

  • Provide learning experience design and content writing services to both internal and external clients
  • Collaborate with other Learning Experience departments and work streams to design, develop, and implement engaging self-paced and instructor-led training programs. Key tasks include, but are not limited to:
    • Conducting analysis
      • Gather data for analysis
      • Interpret gathered data
      • Determine opportunities, goals, objectives, and design considerations using appropriate analysis methods
    • Defining instructional design approach
      • Define learning objectives considering analysis findings
      • Create learning solutions framework
      • Identify best methods to deploy learning experience or instruction
      • Align content with desired training outcomes
      • Determine sequence and duration of learning experiences
    • Creating training materials
      • Write facilitator guides and activity manuals
      • Write storyboards, scripts, and/or job aids
      • Design and write appropriate means to assess achievement of learning objectives
      • Elicit and apply feedback from internal reviewers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and stakeholders
      • Review the design, content, language, and functionality of team members’ output 
      • Provide feedback and recommendations to team members to ensure the quality of training materials produced
      • Coordinate with learning management system (LMS) admins to deploy training materials online
    • Facilitating Train-the-Trainer (T3)/Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions
      • Instruct facilitators on the delivery of developed training materials 
    • Leading team efforts
      • Create project plans to guide the project team
      • Keep track of project progress
      • Identify project issues and risks and work together with leadership and project team members to address those 
      • Provide thought leadership to the project team through reviews and recommendations
      • Liaise with external partners
      • Facilitate project retrospectives post-project completion

  • Timely completion of deliverables

EDUCATION

A degree or certification in any of the following (or similar) fields is a plus, but not required:

  • Education
  • Educational Technology
  • Distance Education
  • Instructional Design
  • Journalism
  • Technical Writing
  • English
  • Communication Arts
  • Mass Communication

Master's degree in Instructional Design, Distance Education or Educational Technology is a plus.  

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • At least 1 year of work experience in the related field
  • Experience in any of the following fields is a plus: training delivery, content creation, e-learning development

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Understanding of design processes (e.g., ADDIE)
  • Knowledge in systems and tools used in development of online training content (e.g., LMS, authoring tools)
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles

OTHER SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives and propose quality solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with peers, management and other departments in a professional manner
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal management skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently
  • Technology literate; can easily work with new software
  • Self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
