that you will participate in the definition and development of corporate policies, procedures, and programs, and managing and providing strategic support for corporate, criminal and civil matters. As you tackle your new tasks for the day, you know that it will lead to one thing: that you will partake in identifying solutions to significant and complex corporate compliance and litigation issues that ensure balanced business decisions are made to best promote the Company’s interest.

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will report directly to the Director, Global Litigation and Compliance,  in identifying and escalating complex corporate compliance, litigation, and factual issues and assisting in their resolution, including but not limited to drafting of pleadings, appearing before government agencies, managing law firm relationships, and providing strategic support. You must be intrinsically familiar with the Company’s daily activities. Duties include analyzing complex corporate transactions, and managing or advising on the cost of legal services.  You will ensure accurate and timely reporting of litigation developments with a special focus on criminal and civil matters. You will partake in managing litigation cases including oversight of external counsel’s handling of litigation and adversary proceedings. You will assist in providing day-to-day legal counsel on a variety of compliance and legal issues worldwide. You will coordinate and lead, in close partnership with the legal team, special projects with a legal component for different entities globally. You will review, develop, support, and recommend, implement, and enforce processes, policies, systems, and procedures to ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulatory guidelines and policies. You will accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different request, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. You will conduct sophisticated legal research, investigations, and analysis with regard to a wide range of legal matters, and liaison to various internal and external entities.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Provide counsel and legal support on all relevant aspects in the contentious sphere relating to business operations, including assistance in court proceedings and processes;
  2. Proactive in the provision of legal support and in advising the business promptly of material legal developments and their implications;
  3. Setting of internal governance policies and manage the impact of external factors;
  4. Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action;
  5. Deal and manage external parties (external law firms/counsels, regulators)
  6. Draft agreements and other legal documents;
  7. Meet legal objectives;
  8. Handle and provide strategic support to criminal and civil matters;
  9. Work closely with the different departments and provide support as necessary (Finance, Human Resource, ELO, Marketing, Sales, etc.)
  10. Deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas be it corporate, commercial, labor, taxation, contracts management, etc.;
  11.  Overall in-charge of all legal compliance aspects of the Company;
  12. Provide support on Merger and Acquisitions and expansion programs that may be assigned by the Director of Global Litigation and Compliance;
  13. Report directly to the Director of Global Litigation and Compliance; and
  14. Other matters as may be assigned from time to time.

EDUCATION
  • Member of the IBP. 
  • Practicing lawyer for at least 5 years.
  • Strong computer skills, not limited to Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent and professional command of the English language in a written and verbal capacity.
  • Operates with a high degree of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities while respecting tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to establish professional working relationships with colleagues, internal and external stakeholders.
  • A sense of humor.
