Florence Copper is a wholly owned subsidiary of Taseko Mines Limited which is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Taseko is also the operator and the owner of the Gibraltar copper/molybdenum mine in Canada and various other development projects.
Job Overview
Ready to keep things running like a well-oiled machine? We’re looking for a hands-on Mechanical/Maintenance Supervisor to take the lead in maintaining, repairing, and optimizing the performance of all mechanical and electrical equipment in our Wellfield operations. You’ll be at the helm of a skilled team, driving uptime, productivity, and safety—while keeping downtime in your rearview mirror. Strong leadership, technical know-how, and an eye for compliance are key to success in this safety-sensitive role.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of mechanical and electrical technicians, fitters, and support staff.
• Assign, schedule, and monitor daily tasks to keep operations running on track.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
• Oversee preventative maintenance for all Wellfield gear.
• Partner with your team to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
• Bring expert-level knowledge of pumps and HDPE piping to the field.
Safety & Compliance
• Champion mine safety standards and enforce company policies.
• Conduct safety briefings, risk assessments, and investigate incidents thoroughly.
• Develop and refine SOPs for all maintenance and commissioning activities.
Planning & Reporting
• Work closely with planners to ensure spare parts and tools are available when needed.
• Keep detailed logs of maintenance activities, equipment history, and inventory usage.
• Compile and deliver clear, data-driven reports on equipment performance and breakdown trends.
Quality Assurance
• Make sure all repair and maintenance work meets high-quality standards.
• Look for ways to optimize maintenance practices and boost operational efficiency.
Team Growth & Development
• Provide hands-on training and mentorship to build up your team’s skills and confidence.
• Track performance and recommend development opportunities to help your crew level up.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
• High School Diploma required; technical certifications preferred.
Experience:
• 5+ years of mechanical/electrical maintenance experience in mining or heavy industry.
• 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Technical Knowledge
• Deep understanding of processing equipment and mechanical systems.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical failures.
• Familiar with CMMS systems and maintenance tracking tools.
Soft Skills
• Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
• Organized, proactive, and calm under pressure.
• Excellent communicator with a can-do attitude.
Working Conditions
• Site-based role with supervision of rotating mechanical maintenance teams.
