Job Title: Wellfield Maintenance Technician

Department: Wellfield

Location: Florence, AZ

Florence Copper is seeking a Wellfield Maintenance Technician to bring their mechanical know-how and safety-first mindset to our dynamic operations. This role is vital in keeping our wellfield running smoothly — troubleshooting, repairing, and returning essential equipment back to peak performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll play a critical role in the upkeep and performance of our wellfield operations. You’ll be responsible for:

 

  • Troubleshooting mechanical and equipment problems in real-time.
  • Installing, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling pumps, motors, and other industrial equipment.
  • Performing preventative maintenance and mechanical inspections to minimize downtime.
  • Repairing, fabricating, and rebuilding wellfield systems and components.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to diagnose and fix issues.
  • Making decisions based on technical documentation and practical mechanical experience.
  • Using your expertise in:
     
    • Mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics
    • Welding, bearings, basic metallurgy (e.g., stress cracking, metal compatibility)
    • Mobile equipment, plumbing, and machine shop tools

 

  • Completing Work Orders, ordering parts, and maintaining maintenance records.
  • Performing pre-use equipment checks and safety inspections.
  • Following all safety rules and operating procedures at all times.
  • Assisting other maintenance and/or operations personnel as needed.
  • Working independently or collaboratively to complete both routine tasks and special projects.

 

Education & Work Experience

We’re looking for someone with:

  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical/maintenance trades — welder, boilermaker, machinist, facility maintenance, or construction.
  • Experience in SXEW, wellfield, or water treatment operations is a big plus.
  • Proven ability to read and follow written instructions.
  • A track record of working carefully, with attention to detail.
  • The ability to thrive both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with HDPE pipe fusing is highly desirable.

 

Skills & Competencies

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and Internet navigation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Experience collecting, entering, and interpreting technical data.
  • The ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders/stairs, and perform hands-on maintenance tasks.
  • Self-motivation, solid time management, and the ability to see a job through from start to finish.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Applicable OSHA or MSHA safety training/certificates.

 

Work Environment

This isn’t a desk job — it’s real, boots-on-the-groundwork. You’ll spend time::

  • Outdoors in all weather conditions, with occasional indoor/office work.
  • Standing, sitting, climbing, and lifting equipment regularly.
  • Using PPE and strictly following Florence Copper’s OSHA-compliant safety procedures.
