Job Overview
The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all mechanical equipment used in an SX-EW processing facility. This includes ensuring that all machinery is safe, well-maintained, and operating at peak efficiency to minimize downtime and enhance productivity. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision:
•Lead and supervise a team of mechanical technicians, fitters, and support staff.
•Plan, assign, and monitor daily tasks to ensure work is completed on schedule.
•Equipment Maintenance:
•Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for light and medium vehicles as well as all the processing equipment within the plant facility.
•Guide the Troubleshooting and repair of mechanical issues with technicians to minimize equipment downtime.
Safety and Compliance:
•Ensure compliance with mine safety regulations and company policies.
•Conduct safety briefings, risk assessments, and incident investigations as needed.
Planning and Reporting:
•Coordinate with the planning team to ensure timely availability of spare parts and tools.
•Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and inventory.
•Prepare and submit regular reports on mechanical performance and breakdowns.
Quality Assurance:
•Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities meet quality and operational standards.
•Continuously assess and improve maintenance strategies and techniques.
Team Development:
•Provide training and mentorship to team members to enhance skills and productivity.
•Evaluate team performance and recommend development plans.
Qualifications and Skills
•Education: High School diploma with a technical certification.
Experience:
•5+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in mining or heavy industrial environments.
•2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Technical Skills:
•Strong knowledge of processing equipment and mechanical systems.
•Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues.
•Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
Soft Skills:
•Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
•Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Working Conditions
•Site-based role supervising rotating mechanical technicians.
•Exposure to harsh weather and challenging physical environments.
•Compliance with PPE requirements and workplace safety standards.
