Job Title:    Security Supervisor

Reports to: Safety Superintendent

Job Summary: 

 

The lead security officer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of security operations at Florence Copper. This role involves developing and enforcing security policies, leading a team of security personnel, coordinating with law enforcement, and responding to incidents. A key focus of the role is fostering a culture of safety and security awareness through training and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Security Operations

  • Oversee daily security activities.
  • Monitor and safeguard company assets, including equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure proper operation of security systems (e.g., CCTV, alarms).
  • Manage access control for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Maintain logs of access and security incidents.

 

Policy & Compliance

  • Develop and enforce security protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments.
  • Implement loss prevention strategies and recommend security improvements.

 

Incident Management

  • Respond to security breaches, emergencies, and incidents.
  • Lead investigations and produce detailed incident reports.
  • Apply corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

 

Team Leadership

  • Lead security officer coordinates the activities of security guards on duty, ensuring adherence to assigned patrols, duties, and schedules.
  • Assign schedules and responsibilities to staff.
  • Ensure team adherence to safety and security protocols.

 

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct security training sessions for employees.
  • Create training materials and emergency response protocols.
  • Promote Security awareness across the workforce.

Liaison & Reporting

  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and external security agencies.
  • Prepare and deliver regular security reports to management.
  • Stay informed on industry security trends and best practices.
  • Ensure that accurate records of security-related activities, including incident reports, shift logs, and training records.
  • Enforce site-specific security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

 

Weight Scale Responsibilities:

  • Weighing: Accurately weighing commodities and vehicles. 
  • Verification: Ensuring the accuracy of the weight by using certified scales and following procedures. 

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a lead security role.
  • Relevant security certifications.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in security systems and technologies.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Knowledge of safety and security regulations.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

 

Work Environment:

  • Lifting and carrying large (50+ lbs.) tools and equipment independently
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Working in various weather conditions for long periods of time.
  • Must work in compliance with the Florence Copper’s site Health and Safety program.
