Job Title: Shipping Supervisor

Department: Operations

Reports to: Senior Supervisor

Location:  Florence AZ

 

Job Summary

The Shipping Supervisor – Copper Cathodes is responsible for overseeing the safe, accurate, and efficient tracking and shipment of finished copper cathodes. This role ensures all outbound loads meet customer specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The supervisor works closely with operations, maintenance, and logistics teams to ensure safe production, high-quality cathode output, and timely shipment of finished copper cathodes while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and track cathode production and shipping operations for copper cathodes, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries
  • Monitor and ensure proper harvesting and production procedures are being followed
  • Assist with tankhouse operations as needed.
  • Oversee cathode handling, bundling, strapping, tagging, and labeling to meet customer quality specifications and operational standards.
  • Coordinate with logistics team to align shipment schedules with cathode output and inventory availability
  • Ensure proper preparation of shipping documentation, including bills of lading (BOLs), packing lists, and weight tickets
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and reconcile shipped quantities
  • Ensure safe loading practices for cathode bundles, preventing damage during transport
  • Inspect outgoing shipments for quality, proper count, and compliance with customer specifications
  • Address and resolve shipping discrepancies, shortages, or damages
  • Maintain shipping logs, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Enforce compliance with DOT, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Lead, train, and supervise shipping personnel, contractors, and equipment operators
  • Conduct safety meetings and ensure adherence to site safety policies

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3–5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations in mining, metals, or heavy industry
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Experience handling copper cathodes or similar bulk/finished metal products strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and inventory control processes
  • Knowledge of shipping documentation and transportation regulations

Work Environment

  • Industrial environment (tankhouse, refinery, warehouse, or mine site)
  • Exposure to heavy equipment, forklifts, cranes, and outdoor conditions
  • May require shift work, overtime, and weekend coverage

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to climb, bend, and work around heavy equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
