POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Quality Assurance Specialist shall manage the daily activities of the quality department regarding the application of the Business Management System (BMS). The QAS shall plan, implement, direct, and maintain a Quality Management System that ensures customer expectations and regulatory standards (ISO, AISC, ASME, etc.) used by TAS are met.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in ensuring the ongoing integrity of the quality management system (ISO 9001:2015, AISC, etc.) through internal auditing or as directed.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality plans and inspection test plans for projects.
  • Ensures that documented procedures needed for the quality management systems are being followed.
  • Define necessary quality documents and ensure their appropriate creation and archiving.
  • Design and implement quality assurance and quality control training programs as required to meet established quality goals and organizational objectives.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and communicate organizational performance data and related information to line managers. Update and publish weekly QA/QC KPIs
  • Regularly evaluate performance data and trends and develop recommendations and action plans for improvement.
  • Provide technical assistance to all functional departments and suppliers in resolving quality related problems.
  • Maintain welding qualification and certification programs, WPS’s, PQR’s, welder continuity logs and Customer Data Books.
  • Maintain the Corrective Action System and ensure root cause solutions are identified and implemented.
  • Maintain a Supplier Corrective Action System.
  • Communicates with external parties on matters relating to the quality management system.
  • Responsible for code compliance
  • Responsible for the administration and implementation of the quality control system.
  • Ensure all work fully complies with the contract drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Ensure all materials, equipment, and workmanship are inspected for compliance with specifications.
  • Identify quality control problems (non-conformances) through proper inspections and recommend/provide solutions.
  • Identify items for improvement and implement changes by coordinating with appropriate individuals with respective subcontractors, suppliers, or internal departments.
  • Maintain work performance records, inspection records, and other related compliance items as necessary.
  • Monitor subcontractor work to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, and codes when applicable and issue reports regarding quality deficiencies and remediation requirements.
  • Act as a liaison with owner, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and/or internal departments on quality related matters and submittals.
  • Establish standards/procedures for commissioning and start-up of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Exercise the authority to halt work on nonconforming work and activities.
  • Availability to travel to client facilities and sites to assist in quality related planning or remediation activities for short durations.
  • Any other tasks assigned by TAS Energy.

 

JOB SKILLS:

  • Highly Computer literate in all standard business operating software.
  • Ability to analyze complex data with a variety of variables to solve practical problems where only limited standardization exists.
  • Provide direct immediate technical support related to quality management processes and philosophies.
  • Ability to produce high quality results using autonomy.

 

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited four-year program or equivalent. 
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of experience in QA Management in an industrial manufacturing environment or equivalent.
  • Experience in operations involving structural steel and pipe weldment fabrication, mechanical and electrical assembly.
  • Business Management Auditing experience is a must – both compliance recertification and surveillance as well as internal.
  • Can assist in the continued development and maintenance of a Quality Management System.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
  • Working knowledge of non-destructive examination (NDE) processes.
  • Effectively organize and supervise root cause analysis and corrective action investigations.
  • Effective working knowledge of applicable codes and/or requirements:
    • ASME Section VIII, IX, and V
    • ANSI B31.1, 31.3, 31.9
    • AWS D1.1
    • NEC/IEC
  • Effectively apply the tenants of Business Management Standards:
    • ISO 9001:2015
    • ISO 14001:2015
    • ISO 45001:2018
    • ISO 22301:2018
    • AISC 207-20
    • ISO 3834-3

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions.  Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading.  The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
