POSITION OVERVIEW:  

The position of Sr. Director, Product Manufacturing will serve as a senior leader responsible for the company’s manufacturing, logistics and facilities maintenance across 5 facilities within the Houston area.  The Sr. Director, Product Manufacturing will report to the SVP, Product Manufacturing and participate in the company’s active growth strategy. He/she will act as a key business partner and advisor to members of the Executive Team.  

   

The Sr Director, Product Manufacturing has responsibility for the group’s throughput production, maintenance, manufacturing facilities and related capital projects associated with the delivery of the company’s entire product line. The position manages these activities through Managers over Manufacturing, Operations Project Management, Facilities and Logistics with an overall organization of approximately 900 manufacturing employees and contractors based in Houston.  

   

   

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Provide senior leadership to the Manufacturing Operations teams and develop a culture and structure that can support and sustain the company’s rapid growth and strategic investments.
  • Develop a balanced scorecard management approach including metrics that align departmental objectives with those of peer functions and the company’s broader strategic agenda.
  • Establish and continually work to improve manufacturing processes that ensure successful project completion and allow the organization to achieve its strategic objectives.
  • Establish systems and fact-based decision processes that allow for the measurement of manufacturing performance and the assessment of strategic supply chain opportunities.
  • Establish structures and processes that ensure accountability for the achievement of results and rewards performance.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered with uncompromising quality, in accordance with client expectations at all levels, on an on-time and on-budget basis.
  • Employee morale, training, and development. Maintaining cultural standards focused on Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
  • Serve as a champion of the company’s safety, health, environmental and quality objectives through an environment of empowering and engaging employees.

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE:  

  • Minimum 15 years career experience managing, fabrication and assembly processes with a demonstrated pattern of increased responsibility in management roles
  • Experience building and managing a manufacturing organization in a high growth or turnaround environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Senior Management role managing multi-site manufacturing operations as well as in the expansion of existing facilities and/or start-up of new properties.
  • Experience with batch and cell fabrication of highly engineered modular systems.
  • Experience with high volume, flow manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working as a part of the senior management team of a business with complete functional accountability for a manufacturing organization.
  • A proven effective record of maintaining positive employee relations and high levels of employee motivation and productivity.
  • Experience working with and implementing team-oriented management approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively at both the strategic and tactical levels including experience with change management principles and demonstrated ability to drive and manage the change process, from strategic planning through implementation.

   

PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE:  

  • Leadership of a multi-site manufacturing organization
  • International operating unit experience  

   

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:  

Required  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline

Preferred  

  • Masters (MBA) degree would be an advantage.

   

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position is at least 80% to 90% at a desk working with computer as well as spending time in our non-temperature-controlled manufacturing shops. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions.  Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading.  The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
