POSITION OVERVIEW: 

As a Designer at TAS Energy you will play a key role in conceptualizing, designing, and optimizing modular components and systems for manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and production staff, to ensure the seamless integration of modular solutions into our manufacturing operations. You will work closely with our design and engineering teams to review and analyze customer requirements, specifications, modular construction plans, manufacturing constraints, ensuring they meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal specifications. Your expertise will contribute to the seamless execution of projects, driving efficiency, and excellence in our modular construction processes. These system designs include the appropriate structural, mechanical, electrical, and controls sub-assemblies.  Design outputs are communicated through 3D/CAD drawings for the purchase of incorporated components and manufacture of TAS products. 

  

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Design and develop innovative modular components and systems for manufacturing processes, considering factors such as functionality, efficiency, scalability, and sustainability.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Revit, AutoCAD) to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings of modular components, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to analyze design requirements, evaluate design feasibility, and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Conduct thorough research on materials, manufacturing techniques, and industry trends to inform the design process and enhance the performance of modular solutions.
  • Generate comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, bill of materials (BOM), and assembly instructions, to support the manufacturing and assembly of modular components.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to production teams during the manufacturing, assembly, and installation of modular components, resolving design-related issues as needed.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in modular manufacturing, continuously seeking opportunities to innovate and improve our modular solutions.
  • Interprets piping and instrument diagrams, site layouts, equipment layouts, piping plan drawings, process flow diagrams, specifications, bills of materials, and GA drawings with respect to packaged equipment system designs
  • Creates 3D models and layouts including mating surfaces, finding correct library parts, performing extrusions, creating assemblies, exploded view diagrams with BOM’s
  • Provide high quality outputs within schedule and manpower budget commitments
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations at all times, promoting a culture of compliance and excellence in modular design and manufacturing.
  • Other tasks as assigned by TAS.

   

JOB SKILLS: 

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit) and other relevant design tools.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and assembly techniques, with a focus on modular construction methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to translate conceptual ideas into practical, manufacturable designs.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement in modular manufacturing practices.
  • Experience with weldments, pipe routing, and designing skids and piping
  • Experience in package/plant designs and layouts with broad knowledge of technical applications, maintenance, operation, and clearance constraints of structural, mechanical, controls, and electrical equipment systems
  • Knowledgeable of codes typically applicable to TAS equipment including NEC, IEC, ASME, AISC, AWS, UMC, OSHA, and building codes etc.
  • A self-starter and highly skilled designer capable of performing all design and modeling tasks required for delivering production level drawings to purchasing and production departments with limited direction

EDUCATION & TRAINING: 

  • Associates degree in a technical discipline or graphics design with proven experience (3+ years) in modular design, manufacturing, or related roles

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field 

  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions.  Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading.  The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
