Position Purpose

The integration team at TAIT is made up of technical experts and project leaders who plan, setup, commission, and handover innovative systems to clients on sites throughout the world. The Controls Testing Technician is responsible for the technical planning, execution, and management of technical systems for integration during the phase six factory integration period. While not a primary member of a project’s core team, this role must effectively work with the project leads to ensure each project is appropriately tested, QC’d, and prepped for site. Additionally, as the Controls Testing Technician retains significant historical information on the beginning of a machine and system’s lifespan, they also are expected to regularly engage with the onsite team to answer questions and occasionally mobilize to site to assist with commissioning and troubleshooting.
 
Key Responsibilities 
 
•    Regularly take part in project coordination, kick-off, and lessons learned meetings.
•    Creates testing, tooling, and logistics plans for factory commissioning work.
•    Manages tasks and provides leadership for local labour during factory testing. 
•    Receives, tracks, stores, and handles inbound project materials for factory testing.
•    Batches project materials as required for projects in both factory and site phases.
•    Tests controls equipment performing basic device configuration and quality control checks.
•    Participates in and/or leads commissioning and testing of equipment for use onsite.
•    Coordinates and works with project integrators to successfully complete project testing.
•    Provides regular project status reports back to the organization and team. 
•    Completes machine and system redlines and non-conformance reporting to provide feedback to
design team and organisation.
•    Acts as a subject matter expert for tested equipment providing technical support to onsite clients and teams.
•    Participates in support rotations to assist in equipment troubleshooting. 
•    Can mobilize to site for the targeted assistance of technical work with the core project team.
 
Position Requirements

•    Formal technical background
•    Theatre/entertainment experience
•    Experience working with complex, large entertainment automation machinery.
•    Knowledge and understanding of entertainment/industrial automation technology and equipment.
•    Working knowledge of PLC programming and control theory
•    Ability to identify and utilize rigging hardware and components.
•    Ability to conduct equipment failure diagnosis and analysis.
•    Understanding of mechanical systems
