Description

Position Purpose
 
The Controls Engineer will review & contribute to system designs, assist with the development of software, assist with factory testing of new equipment, work on site in the commissioning of the equipment, and perform Site Acceptance Tests of the systems. The engineer will also carry out system upgrades, modifications and inspections/maintenance to support TAIT equipment at our client`s facilities.   
 
 
Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities  
  • Perform system upgrades, retrofits, and modifications based on customer needs and industry requirements.
  • Install, configure, and commission control systems, PLCs, SCADA systems, and automation equipment at customer sites.
  • Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic services for control systems
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on control systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Diagnose and repair faults within electrical control panels, PLC systems, and other automation hardware/software.
  • Replace or upgrade control system components as needed (e.g., sensors, actuators, PLCs, HMIs).
  • System inspections/maintenance and testing plus basic mechanical maintenance
  • Control system commissioning
  • Configure and calibrate control systems for optimal performance in diverse operating conditions.
  • Project Management of certain tasks 
  • Communicates frequently with rest of project team about tasks and risks.
  • Stays well organized and pays close attention to details.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures. 
  • Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.
  • Liaise directly with customers and clients ensuring excellent customer satisfaction 
  • Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the company.
  • Maintain accurate service reports, documenting troubleshooting steps, repairs, and parts used.
  • Review and contribute to design documents and drawings
 
Qualifications and Experience
  • Right to work in Hong Kong 
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on a regular basis
  • Strong written and communication skills  
    • Spoken fluency in Cantonese, preferred
    • Spoken fluency in English
    • Able to read and write reports for clients in English 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or a related field preferred 
    • 3 to 5 years of experience in control systems engineering with PLC systems 
      • Allen-Bradley, Siemens
      • SCADA and HMI systems
      • Safety PLCs 
    • Experience in project management and system integration.
    • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and control systems.
    • Working experience developing software for PLCs 
       Preferred 
    • Knowledge of control theory and its application, electrical theory and mechanical systems
    • Strong understanding of System Level Hazard Analyses, Failure Modes Effects Analyses, Safety PLC configuration, and programming of safety rated PLC systems and equipment.
    • Previous experience working on Theme Park attraction control systems or in a technical theatre setting 
    • Experience in network configuration and network security 
     
    Physical Demands

    • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time on job sites 
    • Must be able to lift or move 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to carry 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to pull or push 100 lbs.
     
    Work conditions of the role are:
     
    Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
    • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions
    • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes, safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location.
