Description

The Associate Mechanical Integrator is an entry-level, hands-on role designed to build foundational skills in mechanical integration for live entertainment. This position focuses on learning the key competencies required of a Mechanical Integrator, including technical execution, project collaboration, and safe work practices in dynamic environments.
Associates work closely with senior team members on active projects to develop mechanical proficiency, communication skills, and an understanding of how staging, rigging, and motion systems come together in the field. As competency grows, so does responsibility—this role is structured to evolve with the individual’s development. Associates begin by supporting scopes under close supervision and grow toward leading portions of projects as they gain experience.
An integrator exists on the uniquely TAIT line between technology and art—bringing creative visions to life through precision, collaboration, and technical execution. This role is ideal for individuals with a basic understanding of live entertainment and a strong desire to learn and grow within a fast-paced, project-driven technical environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform basic integration tasks under close supervision
  • Support shop testing and field setup with guidance from senior team members
  • Learn tools, techniques, and safety practices through hands-on experience
  • Communicate clearly with peers and ask questions to build understanding
  • Participate actively in training and team learning opportunities
  • Begin developing awareness of TAIT’s technical and theatrical fundamentals
  • Learn to coordinate mechanical elements into cohesive systems
  • Contribute to internal standards and process improvements through observation and feedback
  • Collaborate with internal teams on post-project activities
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing and contribute to team learning materials
  • Exposure to projects in both Portable (Live/Brand Experience) and Fixed (Placemaking/LBE)

Requirements:
  • GED or High School Diploma Required
  • Basic technical or mechanical background
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools
  • Technological curiosity and problem-solving mindset
  • Strong written communication and willingness to learn
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (average 100 days/year)
  • Ability to work in varied entertainment environments (e.g., shops, backstage, catwalks, cruise ships)
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to frequently walk, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, stoop, and kneel each day. Specific requirements are:
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift or move 70 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to pull or push 140 lbs.
  • Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes, safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, safety toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location
  • Ability to work in “entertainment conditions” including a wide variety of working places such as shops, backstage, catwalks at height, construction areas, theme parks, and cruise ships
