Job Responsibilities: What you will do
Investigates and evaluates claims, manages pending files focusing on effectively balancing expenses and timely resolutions while working closely with more senior examiners and/or leadership for moderately complex claims.
- Investigate the determination of contractual liability, negotiation, financial analysis, reserving and settling of claims up to authorized amount.
- Examine customer claims of overage, shortage, and damaged products/loads, including minor to major accidents.
- Review, assess, and apply the contractual language between the freight client and Swift to best determine liability, damage amount including limits of liability, financial impact and all other aspects of the freight claim in the best interest of Swift Transportation.
- Stay current on all statutes that are shaping the freight claims landscape like Carmack and the Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA).
- Determine causation, liability, extent of damages, opportunities for mitigation and effective utilization of the freight and equipment involved to bring about the successful settlement of the freight claim.
- Ensure that each file has the proper documentation to support the finalization of the claim.
- Investigate the causation of the claim and coordinate with sales, customer service, operations and the freight client to determine the root cause and reduce/eliminate further reoccurrences of the issues at hand.
- Manage claims for and develop relationships with a dedicated group of freight clients to bring about the successful resolution of their freight claims.
- Effectively maintain a diary and monitor plans of action on each claim assigned through the claims management software.
- Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.

Qualifications: What you need to bring
- 3+ years experience in insurance/claims required.
- Previous experience working Carmack Amendment claims and insurance claims of increasing severity required.
- Knowledge of statutes that are shaping the freight claims landscape (Carmack and Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA) required.
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
- Must be knowledgable of Carmack Amendment.
- Must be very organized and able to multi-task.
- Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work efficiently, independently or in a team.
- Must possess strong research abilities.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
