Job Title: Financial Analyst (with Accounting Duties)
Job Overview:
The Financial Analyst will support the financial health of the medical group by assisting in the analysis of financial data, maintaining financial models, and performing essential accounting tasks. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to develop analytical and accounting skills in a healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in financial planning and analysis, basic experience with financial modeling, and a desire to grow professionally through hands-on learning and collaboration with internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis and Modeling:
- Assist in analyzing financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to gain insights into the medical group's financial performance. Help maintain and update financial models to ensure they reflect current financial performance. Support the creation of new financial models tailored to various physician practices, with guidance from senior analysts and management. Contribute to the preparation of financial reports, highlighting key metrics and trends for review by senior team members.
Accounting Duties:
- Assist with managing the general ledger, including preparing journal entries and performing reconciliations. Support the preparation of financial statements and ensure they comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Help oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring accurate processing of transactions. Provide assistance during audits, tax filings, and other regulatory reporting activities.
Physician Compensation Support:
- Assist in managing and administering physician compensation models under the guidance of senior staff. Help prepare compensation reports and communicate over or under payments to physicians, with an emphasis on clear and courteous communication.
Professional Development:
- Demonstrate a strong desire to learn and grow in the role, actively engaging in opportunities for professional development. Stay informed about industry trends, financial regulations, and accounting practices through internal staff guidance. Participate in development opportunities provided by internal staff to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- 2-5 years of experience in financial analysis and accounting, preferably within the healthcare industry
- Strong knowledge of financial modeling and familiarity with financial software (e.g., Excel, Sage Inacct, Lawson)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Eagerness to learn and grow professionally with a strong commitment to ongoing development
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Prior experience with a medical group (preferred)
