Position Overview

Sutro has a unique capability that enables new molecular entities to be designed using a hybrid of synthetic and recombinant technologies to create best in class therapeutics in the oncology and auto-immune disease space.  Our portfolio includes antibody-drug conjugates, bispecific antibodies, cytokine derivatives and other novel immuno-stimulatory approaches.

 

Sutro Biopharma, Inc. is looking for energetic and talented individuals to join its multidisciplinary research and development team.  While collaborating with cross-functional departments, you will play a key role in the Procurement function to improve efficiency, optimize savings and manage the procurement of materials and services.
 

The ideal candidate for  Buyer:  plans, schedules and monitors the movement of materials, equipment and services through the production cycle of the R&D and Corporate facilities to determine and procure required materials, equipment and services, using R&D and Facility schedules to maintain inventory, equipment and services at planned levels; negotiate contracts, coordinate RFXs, obtains materials, services and equipment; evaluates: ensures compliance and manage cost savings opportunities to be realized and tracked.

Responsibilities

  • Manage indirect purchase of materials and services to optimize savings in support of R&D and the Corporate facility.
  • Manage the new supplier intake process including contractors, consultants (domestic and international)
  • Manage online e-commerce punchout-new supplier set-up; price adjustments; liaison for supplier system issues
  • Purchase Order management (name change, add funds, close, quantity/amount changes, project codes changes)
  • Procurement Card management
  • Purchase Order invoice issue resolution
  • Establish and drive ERP training process (Microsoft D365): PR Management
  • Supplier delivery follow-up and expediting
  • Adhere to and enforce Sutro’s hierarchal purchasing policies and procedures in compliance with existing Signature and Expenditure Authority Policy.
  • End-User system and process support
  • Work with Key stakeholders to consolidate and standardize lab supplies to optimize quality and cost reductions
    • Inventory management of Vivarium, Lab & Office Supplies-annual blanket orders/savings
  • Subscription, permits and renewals-collaborate with Facilities and EH&S
  • Maintain Bank & Trade Credit applications and annual updates
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and payment terms with suppliers
  • Cobblestone contract routing management
  • Back-up Logistics

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years related experience in purchasing and/or materials management in a SOX regulated internal controlled environment. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 / AX ERP software preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail required.
  • Contracts management experience a plus
  • Works on problems of diverse scope in which analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a business/scientific discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Adheres to strict regulatory, quality, and traceability standards.
  • Logistics, waste management, and calibration services a plus

The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this role at Sutro Biopharma’s California based locations will be $115,000 - $145,000 (not including bonus, equity, and benefits). The final salary offered will be dependent on several factors that include and are not limited to relevant previous experience, job responsibilities and duration of experience, the type and length of experience within the industry and education.
