SENIOR TECHNICAL DESIGNER
As a Senior Technical Designer, you will play a pivotal role in crafting unforgettable gameplay experiences that will delight players. You'll collaborate closely with our team of talented Designers, Artists, and Engineers to lay the foundation for creating these experiences along with working to continuously improve how we create them over time.
What you’ll do:
  • Bring the creative vision of the game to life via gameplay, whether it be combat, quests, or exploration mechanics
  • Author design specs and drive implementation in collaboration with designers, artists, and engineers to establish the foundation for building unique player experiences
  • Act as the primary "go-to" person for implementing complex content that stretches the capability of existing systems and projects requiring heavy design/engineer interactions
  • Collaborate with engineering to develop new technical solutions that solve design problems while balancing designer-friendly interface with technical constraints.
  • Dive into the less defined spaces between teams to understand limitations and find creative solutions to align disciplines
  • Ensure the team’s designs are cognizant of the potential limitations of the engine while constantly looking for ways to expand our capabilities
  • Improve design workflows and processes as a force multiplier for yourself and others around you
Requirements:
  • 5+ years experience in professional game design
  • Have experience working with programming languages such as C++/C#/Python or equivalent
  • End-to-end design capability, from rapid prototyping to delivery to live iteration
  • Demonstrate strong design instincts and an acute awareness of how core systems affect gameplay
  • Able to take design direction when provided, while still bringing your own ideas to the table
  • Effectively collaborate with team members from different disciplines, including designers, artists, engineers, production, and QA
  • Thrive on solving complex design problems and are always willing to share information and insights with others
  • Exhibit the ability to delve deeply into technical problems for complex systems and drive investigations towards innovative solutions
Bonus points for:
  • Game industry in another discipline such as engineering or QA
  • Experience working with custom engines
  • Experience working on live service games
  • At least one shipped AAA title
The base annual salary range for this position in the United States is $60-130K. The base salary is just one part of the overall compensation package. This base pay range is for the United States only and does not apply to international locations. The range for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
