The Opportunity!

As the Occupational Health and Safety Manager for our Airline division, you will establish and maintain an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) and promote a strong and positive safety culture.

What You’ll Do:

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining a Hazard Prevention Program, Internal Complaint Resolution Process, Hazardous Occurrence Investigation and Reporting Process, Workplace Inspections Process, and other OHSMS elements required under Part II of the Canada Labour Code;
  • Conducting investigations, analysis, and identification of the cause or probable cause of hazards, incidents, and accidents identified under the OHSMS;
  • Conducting hazard analysis, ergonomic assessments and other job safety analyses;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions with respect to hazards, incidents, and accidents identified under the OHSMS;
  • Delivering OHS specific training (e.g. investigation, root causes analysis);
  • Promoting OHS on an ongoing and regular basis (e.g. participate in the development of an OHS awareness campaign);
  • Supporting workplace committee activities and acting in the role of management co-chairperson for the workplace committees as required;
  • Establishing and maintaining a Potable Water Management Plan in accordance with Health Canada requirements;
  • Establishing and maintaining a Food & Sanitation Management Plan in accordance with Health Canada requirements;

 

 

 What You’ll Need:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field, or an equivalent level of education and experience
  • 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the aviation industry 
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation would be considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety management principles;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Canadian Labour Code Part II, and OHS Regulations;
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of computer applications, such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio, and MS Access;
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, educate and empower others in a positive and productive manner.
