Suncoast Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center is seeking full time team members to join our team on overnight shifts. Work 3 nights a week and enjoy your days on the beautiful sunny beaches of Sarasota!

Your role would involve intricate tasks such as IV catheter placement, assisting in surgical procedures, and providing emergency services, all while ensuring the highest standard of care. 
 
Your expertise in recognizing and responding to the various needs of our patients, whether it's identifying signs of pain or distress or managing their vital signs, will be crucial. Your knowledge of drug dosages and uses, and your ability to leap into action when emergencies arise will be invaluable to the team. The ability to communicate effectively with both clients and staff, adapt to different doctors' preferences, and maintain strong organizational skills will set you apart as a professional in this dynamic environment.
 
Our in-house diagnostics include a full in-house Idexx lab, blood gas analyzers, coag profile, bile acids, cortisol, Heska blood typing, Imagyst digital slide reader, and cytospin.  In addition, we have a Vimago CT, force triad vessel fusion, Veterinary PRP/stem cell centrifuge, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, a Snyder oxygen cage, and a therapeutic laser.
 
Qualifications: 
Minimum 1-year veterinary hospital experience, preferably in Emergency and/or Urgent Care
 
Skills/Knowledge:
  • Effective communication with clients and staff members
  • Ability to safely lift objects or pets of at least 50lbs (you may ask for assistance)
  • Ability to work with or without direct supervision
  • Restrain and control cats and dogs of any temperament
  • Recognize concerning behaviors in pets
  • Make conversions and calculations
  • Adapt to different needs and preferences of different doctors. 
  • Ask questions when any task or procedure is unclear
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of hospital procedures and operating instruction
 
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is  $19-25/hour plus shift differentials for overnights. Salary commensurate with experience level.
