I.  Purpose of Position

As a leader in Sales Support Department, you will be primarily responsible for accurately responding to all quotation requests for all SEL products.  Furthermore, you will track and following up on all Quotes after issuance to insure that they are acceptable to our customers.  Also within this position, you will responsible for maintaining the Quote Database to ensure the quotes are up to date and all responsible outside parties are informed of the activity.

II. General Functions/Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Sales Support Activities for the Customer Service Department:
  • Prepare/Coordinate/Submit a professional response to all quote requests within assigned regions and for all assigned customers.
  • Enlist engineering, QA, purchasing, Customer Service, etc. support as needed to review customer requirements and/or specifications to ensure that the correct part(s), availability and lead times are being quoted.
  • Follow all applicable SOP’s in the issuance of quotes.
  • Prepare, maintain and control distribution of confidential price lists.
  • Maintain internal price lists/pricing structures within the Corporate ERP System.
  • Assist Product Management in projects associated with normal quote/pricing reporting as needed.
  • Listen to customer needs, and discuss product features, applications, and suggest alternatives as needed.
  • Periodic meeting with Product Managers to review strategies and pricing.
  • Work with Credit Department to establish a credit for new customers
  • Work with the various internal groups to stay up to date on all the products and options associated with the current product group. Also understanding new products being developed and how these will be brought to market and the impact to the current product offering.
  • Provide support and/or back up to other Inside Sales personnel as needed.
  • Weekly and monthly reporting of quotation activities as needed
  • Maintain and update commission detail for the assigned Manufacturing Reps.  Monthly review of the detail prior to the commission payment cycle to verify the accuracy of the sales activity as assigned to the Manufacturers Reps.
  • Work with the Customer Service Representatives on pricing and product issues as needed.

III. Educational Requirements

  • Minimum 2 year college degree, or equivalent work experience within a professional or technical field such as business or engineering and relating to the fiber optic industry.  Desire 4 year university degree.

IV. Experience Requirements

  • 10+ years professional experience within the fiber optic industry or a related business, with specific knowledge of Cable, Fusion Splicers, Cabling Systems, and/or Connector Products.
  • Proven experience within customer service, contract administration, marketing, sales support and/or technical writing.  Knowledge of contract terms and condition very helpful.
  • Excellent telephone skills required.
  • Knowledge of International export requirements (INCO 2012).
  • Willingness to work as a team, providing leadership to the department.
  • Extremely well organized and must be able to multi-task.
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft products and lead management programs.
