Overview
- SUMITOMO ELECTRIC U.K. POWER CABLES LTD. is seeking an experienced Contract Manager
to support the delivery of the Sea Link HVDC Interconnector project. The role will be responsible
for the commercial and contractual management of the offshore cable transport and installation (T&I)
sub-contract. Working closely with the Offshore Project Manager and wider project team, the Contract
Manager will manage contractual interfaces with offshore contractors and support execution of marine
installation works. The role requires strong offshore cable installation contract experience within
a multi-contractor EPC environment.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Administration
- Lead administration of the offshore cable T&I sub-contract.
- Manage contractual correspondence and notices.
- Advise on contractual rights and obligations.
- Maintain auditable contract records.
Claims and Variations Management
- Manage claims, EOTs and variations.
- Assess entitlement, quantum and programme impact.
- Ensure timely notices and submissions.
- Support dispute resolution.
Offshore T&I Contract Management
- Act as contractual focal point for offshore cable T&I sub-contract.
- Monitor contractor performance.
- Align contract with delivery strategy.
Commercial Risk Management
- Identify and manage risks.
- Develop mitigation strategies.
- Report risk exposure.
Interface with Project Controls
- Align contract with schedule and risk.
- Support EOT development.
- Integrate contract and delivery strategy.
Strategic Contribution
- Support sub-contractor evaluation of 3rd party services and provisional items.
- Responsible for overall commercial and contractual strategy together with PM
Team Structure
- Standalone senior role, reporting to Offshore PM, supported by Quantity Surveying resource as required.

Candidate Profile
- Experience in offshore infrastructure contract management (8 years minimum) essential
- FIDIC knowledge essential.
- Experience with cable T&I contracts preferred.
- Strong claims and variation management capability essential
- Understanding of EOT and delay analysis essential.
- Experience managing contractual dispute resolution preferred
- Marine/offshore experience.
- Strong stakeholder management.
- Ability to operate independently.

Sumitomo Electric is one of the leading global manufacturers of state-of-the-art high-end electricity transmission
cables, up to and including 525kV HVDC(High Voltage Direct Current) cable.
The new factory at Nigg, with investment value announced by the Scottish Government of £350M, will make a
significant contribution towards realisation of the UK Net Zero Target by contributing to critical electricity transmission
