Suffolk University is pleased to announce recruitment for a Data and Systems Operations Lead position (DSOL) in the Counseling, Health & Wellness Center (CHW) which provides counseling, health, and wellness education services to Suffolk students.  This position will provide essential technical and administrative support across several key functions and will report to the CHW Director.  Primarily, the DSOL serves as the core departmental technical resource for the Center’s comprehensive electronic health record (EHR) system.  This position works closely with CHW leadership and Suffolk Information Technology staff to understand and implement EHR configuration and workflow processes to enhance efficiency, clinical documentation functions, and data reporting.  In addition, this position provides support for additional technology needs related to online and/or software-driven services provided by CHW to students, such as TAO, MySSP, EverFi, among others, and is responsible for generating data reports from the EHR as well as timely maintenance of the CHW website.  As a dynamic institution located in the heart of Boston, Suffolk is an exciting place to work and grow professionally.  This position is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated, supportive, and team-oriented staff in a busy healthcare clinic providing services to a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students. 

Successful candidates will possess demonstrated critical thinking skills and an applied understanding of EHR clinical data and processes.  Strong communication, customer service skills, and an interest in working among a diverse staff and student population are required.  Experience with EHR data and/or interest in working in a healthcare setting is preferred. 

Primary/Principal Responsibilities:

Provide support for CHW’s electronic health record.  Includes collaboration with CHW leadership and and Suffolk’s ITS department regarding data transfer with Suffolk data systems and coordination of routine software updates and enhancements.  In addition, collaboration is required with CHW leadership and clinical staff to evaluate and implement improvements to clinical workflow, clinical templates, and development of automated solutions to improve the efficiency of clinical documentation tasks.  Assist with configuration of EHR functionality including the patient portal and/or modules related to Immunization Compliance.

In collaboration with CHW leadership, plan and implement data reporting from the EHR to support analysis of utilization trends and clinical presentations.  Preparation of reports for dissemination as needed.

Provide system support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for various other online or software driven clinical service or other platforms with a goal of supporting access and accurate information for students and extraction of data for the purpose of service improvement.

Under supervision of the CHW Director or designee, proactively maintain and update department website, including routine annual updates and time-sensitive updates as needed.  Collaborate with Media Services. 

Other administrative tasks as assigned by the CHW Director

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA preferred in information technology or data related field.
  • Applied experience with data-management software and client-interface tools.
  • Experience with EHR data or experience working in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong detail orientation
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to work independently
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
