STV has an immediate opportunity for a Civil Engineering Senior Project Manager to join the transit team in our Virginia Beach, VA office to participate in and further the development of transportation infrastructure projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.  Our Transportation and Infrastructure division specializes in the planning, organization, and development of transportation facilities. These projects will serve to benefit the traveling public’s experience for generations to come.  We are looking for candidates who are truly interested in shaping the future of the region’s transportation related assets.

This role emphasizes project planning, design, production, and delivery of transit related projects, with the ability to develop both professionally and personally.  This position also offers opportunities for involvement in project management and business development activities, including the preparation of proposals, presentations, and contracts. The ideal candidate is self-motivated with a solid technical foundation allowing them to work independently.  STV’s culture promotes exposure to and interaction with multiple design disciplines within a healthy work-life balance.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to lead challenging projects while directing the efforts of multi-disciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff.  You will work on a wide variety of projects focusing on transit and rail, but also roadway, site, and other facilities. For this role, support will primarily be to projects and clients in Virginia and Washington, DC, including projects for HRT, VDOT, DDOT, VRE, WMATA, VDRPT and municipalities throughout Virginia. Our projects include a variety of planning, on-site support and design reviews, final design and construction of highway, transit and rail projects.

The ideal candidate must have project oversight experience with both the design process and the coordination of a multidisciplinary team of design and quality professionals.  Your involvement and leadership will be essential to performing at the highest level for our clients.  At STV, your input and technical knowledge would also be valued while supporting project planning and aiding with proposal preparation.


  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • Experience working in VA and Washington DC
  • Virginia PE required
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience designing and supporting transit and rail projects
  • Proficient with transit and railroad design including geometric site layout, grading and local design standards.
  • Experience working with Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) on facilities owned and operated by HRT throughout the region
