At STRIVE Collegiate Academy, our mission is to prepare middle school students for success in high school, college, and career. We will achieve this by empowering each student with a literacy-based curriculum aligned across all content areas in a culture that encourages leadership, virtue, and excellence as the foundation for success in all their endeavors.
STRIVE Collegiate Academy is a tuition-free college preparatory charter school serving students of Nashville dedicated to closing the achievement gap between low-income students and their more advantaged peers. We were approved in 2014 by the Metro Nashville Board of Education. STRIVE opened in 2015 with 120 5th graders. We now have about 400 students serving grades 5th-8th grades. STRIVE serves students in the McGavock cluster (Donelson, Hermitage, Old Hickory, and Napier) and are committed to going above and beyond to ensure students are successful in high school, college, and life.

The Related Arts Coordinator will play a pivotal role in establishing physical education, fine arts at STRIVE. This candidate will need to be someone that can implement the Music or Art curriculum with a joyous culture. The Related Arts teacher will have an innovative spirit that can bring reading, math, history, and science to life through fine arts & physical education. The ability to be adaptive and creative is also imperative.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop measurable instructional goals and systems to track progress for all students according to the Tennessee Fine Arts & Physical Education Standards.
- Create, utilize, and revise (with data) long-term plans, unit plans, unit assessments, and weekly lesson plans through the Fine Arts/Physical Education curriculum.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver appropriate lessons using a variety of presentation methods to keep students engaged and to meet their individual needs.
- Develop and maintain tracking systems that capture student's progress towards their personal goals.
- Use multiple forms of data and technology to inform daily instructional decisions and to personalize learning for students--including targeted intervention and acceleration.
- Create and maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes good behavior and adheres to our school-wide culture management system.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with parents by communicating frequently to inform them of students' academic and personal growth.
- Research and apply research-based practices to Fine Arts/Physical Education.
- Lead cultural duties including, but not limited to, breakfast, lunch, morning/after school duties, and monitor peer teachers' classrooms.
- Plan for and participate in extracurricular activities designed as opportunities to support student's academic and character development.
- Obtain and implement regular observation and instructional feedback for continued growth.
- Actively participate in regular professional development.
- Lead the school-wide electives/enrichment block planning and implementation process.
- Other activities assigned at the School Leader's discretion to achieve our mission.
Skills & Qualifications
- Unquestioned integrity and commitment to STRIVE's vision, mission, and values.
- Must hold a Tennessee teaching license.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Master's degree (preferred, but not required)
- Experience in a variety of fine arts
- Deep knowledge of fine arts practices

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Physical demands: long periods of standing, sitting, as well as squatting and kneeling; and have the ability to lift items up to 25 lbs is required. There will be continued use of hands, wrist, and arm movements. Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing. Little physical effort will be required. Position will require limited over-night travel.
- Work environment: Position will have periods of extended work week hours. Required to understand the importance of the job assignment and strive for high quality performance in all position responsibilities.
