Auto Body Paint Technician

Job Summary:

The Paint Technician is assigned to work at a specific customer location (i.e. Car dealership) to paint surfaces of vehicles using spray-painting equipment, power tools, and work aids. The incumbent is mobile and will work as a part of a team during an assigned shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties of the position include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Key Functions:

  • Maintain the quality standards of service of the Company
  • Maintain the proper function, cleanliness, and organization of all service tools, equipment, and work aids.
  • Inspect panels to be painted for body repair; prepare and/or buff defect(s)
  • Paint surfaces of vehicle using spray-painting equipment, power tools, and work aids utilizing specific surface preparation and painting techniques
  • Sand, mask, blend, and polish paint finish to match surrounding surface area
  • Retouch paint as-necessary
  • Other duties as-assigned

Education/Experience:  High School Diploma, or general education degree (GED), or one to three months relates experience, and/or training or equivalent combination or education and experience.

Language Ability:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Computer Skills: Ability to learn and adapt to changes in software for field operations, currently ReconPro, for the purpose of scanning VIN numbers and invoicing customers.

Certificates and Licenses: Valid State Driver’s License

  • Ability to stand and use hands and arms for entire working shift
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and reach with hands or arms for majority of working shift
  • Ability to walk, climb, or balance as-needed during working shift
  • Regular, predictable attendance and punctuality is required for the entire 40-hour work week
  • Ability to work at an alternative location (i.e. Customer location) for entire 40-hour work week and working shift
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. repeatedly and regularly
  • Ability to see clearly up-close, use depth perception and peripheral vision, and adjust focus
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors
