Merchandise Assistant:
Job Summary: The Merchandise Assistant reports to the Buyer and is responsible for providing analytical, operational, and clerical assistance to support all areas of the Buyer’s businesses.
Reports To: Buyer
Essential Functions:
  • Assists the Buyer to meet sales, profit, inventory, and turnover goals. Generates new product set up sheets, creates sku’s and processes purchase orders for new items.
  • Writes, places, and tracks purchase orders to include custom order product.
  • Organizes and maintains current and accurate product assortment line-up.
  • Review “on order” and make proper adjustments to ensure the company is maximizing opportunities and minimizing liabilities.
  • Maintains vendor relationships and monitors supplier execution.
  • Assist in managing price changes and markdowns.
  • Partner with buyer in completing all marketing/advertising initiatives.
  • Manage website additions and approvals.
  • Various projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Education & Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 2 year in a retail environment
  • Experience in AS400 or other related technology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
Competencies:
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with ease, set appropriate priorities, and manage time effectively while paying strict attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to present information.
  • Ability to identify issues, recommend and implement strategies to resolve problems. 
  • Excellent planning and prioritization skills.
  • Eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships and a cooperative team environment that promotes high performance standards and attainment of goals.
Supervisory Responsibility: None.
Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, tablets, and other office equipment.
