Engineering Technician


SRC, Inc. is currently seeking entry level and experienced Engineering Technicians who will work under general supervision in a research and development (R&D) and limited production environment on electronic warfare, radar and communication systems. Activities will include setup, teardown, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modification of development and limited production systems, parts and equipment including digital and analog subsystems and systems. Testing and troubleshooting will be done at the unit and system level with some field testing. This position comes with a fair amount of system setup and teardown that can occur in both indoor and outdoor test areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Setup, teardown and move radars in laboratory and outdoor test areas
  • Perform limited production and prototyping activities (cable fabrication, system assembly, circuit board testing, etc.)
  • Identify and setup test equipment and perform testing and troubleshooting of products and/or systems
  • Hands-on work in an electronic lab environment which will require soldering, assembly of mechanical and electrical systems/sub-systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic warfare, radar and communication systems using electronic and radio frequency (RF)-based test equipment, applying principles and theories of electronics and electrical circuitry in an International Organization for Standardization (ISO)-compliant environment
  • Set up standard test apparatus and/or build test fixtures, cables and other circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of development, prototype or limited production units and systems
  • Comply with and support company policies and programs regarding safety, quality, compliance, security, etc.
  • Work to develop professional relationships through collaboration, respect, professionalism, trust, and integrity
  • Assist with various lab maintenance and improvement tasks (cleanliness, calibration, general improvement activities, etc.)

Position Requirements:

  • Associate degree in a technical specialty with 0-1 years of experience, such as electronics technology, electrical engineering technology, or other technology degree from an accredited educational institution or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Demonstrated experience understanding and interpreting electronic schematics, electronic drawings, mechanical drawings, test and assembly instructions, specifications, engineering documents and data sheets
  • Experience using a variety of electronic test equipment, hand-solder surface-mount devices as well as proficient with hand tools used for assembly, maintenance of systems and prototyping; torque screw drivers and wrenches, hand drills, shear, brake, Dremel, etc.
  • High level of structured problem solving and analytical skills, strong analytical thinker, very task oriented
  • Ability to assemble cable harnesses and RF cables
  • Must have highly professional verbal and written communication skills to convey status, technical issues, and general information by various means in a team-oriented environment
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently and adapt to quickly changing work demands with a high customer service aptitude
  • Must have general computer skills including MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC-A-620 certification desired

Must be able to meet occupational requirements including the ability to lift, move and walk with 40 lbs., could be working outside 40% depending on program setup needs.
