Job Description

The Business Intelligence Architect is a lead technical resource in Data Technologies team responsible for the architecture design, development, maintenance, administration, and continuous improvement of solutions for Reporting and Analytics. This position is accountable for the technical components of the Tableau analytics platform and will be encouraged to deliver incremental business value in an agile environment. As Business Intelligence Product Owner, you will bridge the gap between business and data engineering teams and develop robust analytics solutions for Splunk's Business Units. You will translate business goals into KPIs and metrics and work closely with development and analysts to design systems with those metrics that are collected accurately for our users. You’ve got a strong Tableau implementation background, and are comfortable slinging some code to solve a problem. You understand how data analytics development teams work, and how engineers think.

Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!

  • Deep understanding of Tableau Online Technical Architecture, Data Modeling, and Server Administration.
  • Ability to support the creation of single source of truth for Business Metrics leveraging agreed upon data definitions, build a common data foundation, and semantic layers to be consumed by business in Tableau
  • Conduct and lead business intelligence whiteboarding sessions, workshops, design sessions, and project meetings, while building strong client relations with Business Stakeholders for Tableau solutions.
  • Establish standards and best practices for dashboards for the project and server administration automation.
  • Design and Construct Tableau foundation and implement a long-term strategy for Tableau platform.
  • Support the team with an understanding of business and data requirements, and iteratively design visualizations for customer presentation

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of Business Intelligence Architecture experience and data warehouse database technology expertise.
  • Hands on experience and expertise with Tableau Online, data modeling/data analysis and databases such as Snowflake, Redshift required. Experience in enterprise architecture practices, frameworks and methodologies required.
  • Savviness with complex SQL queries and knowledge of database technologies including window and analytical functions
  • Guide the team through setting up a Tableau data visualization Center of Excellence and/or enablement model
  • Administer Tableau Online in multiple environments for maximum efficiency and performance
  • Experience in managing repository, API calls, Authentication Integrations with OKTA, SAML and custom RBAC implementations.
  • Perform detailed data analysis (i.e. determine the structure, content, and quality of the data through examination of source systems and data samples)
  • Design and create data visualizations (reports and dashboards) as required to support user stories, including UI/visualization aspects
  • Develop innovative solutions, taking into consideration performance, scalability, and availability with realistic implementation schedules.
  • Change management including upgrades, monitor server activity/usage statistics to identify possible performance issues/enhancements. Performance tuning / Server management of tableau server environment (clustering, Load balancing).
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills (both in presentation and comprehension), along with the aptitude for thought leadership in analytics.
  • Strong work ethic with good time management with ability to work with diverse teams and lead meetings.
  • Tableau Consulting Experience and Certification preferred. Alteryx experience is desirable.
