Role

Splunk is the leader in big data, machine learning analytics with a significant presence in the cyber security market. The Splunk Global Security (SGS) team is looking for a Head of Information Security Strategy, who will report to the Splunk Chief Information Security Officer. This is an individual contributor role that will have high impact on cyber security at Splunk as well as the SGS team. The position can be based out of San Jose, San Francisco, Tyson's Corner or remote in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Develop all aspects of the security roadmaps under the purview of Splunk Global Security
  • Envision, build and maintain short and long term strategies across SGS services
  • Collaborate with IT, infrastructure and Product Security teams in developing and influencing yearly and quarterly priorities
  • Use industry and vendor partnerships to identify and incorporate scalable, best-in-class security techniques and solutions
  • Act as an advisor on cyber security techniques and solutions to multi-functional stakeholders
  • Represent Splunk in technical cyber security discussions with strategic customers

Requirements

  • 12 years of Security related work experience with a Bachelor's Degree, 8 years with a Master's Degree or 5 years with a PhD, or relevant practical experience
  • Deep technical knowledge and expertise in driving cyber security strategy
  • Up to date understanding of current trends in the security industry
  • Familiarity with threat landscape, adversarial techniques and mitigation
  • Practical experience engineering infrastructure, application and data security solutions
  • Solid understanding and experience defending large scale application and multi-cloud environments
  • Able to influence multi-functional priorities and explain sophisticated systems and technical security topics to others who may have minimal technical knowledge
  • Fosters and builds a collaborative working relationship with operational and business partners
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels
