Role

We’re looking for an experienced leader, collaborator and story-teller ready to lead Employee Communications for Splunk, the Data-To-Everything company and one of the fastest growing, multi-billion dollar software providers on the planet.

Based in San Francisco or San Jose, CA, this role is global in scope and ideal for a leader that thrives in a high-growth, fast-moving and highly collaborative environment, is committed to delivering exceptional and creative communications, and ready on day one to direct a high-performing team of passionate, committed and fun Splunkers. Splunk’s Director of Employee Communications is a hands-on, high-profile, global role that will partner with our people across the company, from our CEO to every member of our growing Communications team.

Responsibilities:

  • Coach and develop our employee communications team chartered to excite, engage and align Splunk’s global employee community around the company's strategic objectives, story, values and mission.
  • Develop and deliver cutting-edge, scalable communications that improve productivity and drive conversation, connectedness and innovation across Splunk's employee community.
  • Evolve existing and create new communication channels to ensure an optimal mix of top-down, sideways and bottoms-up communication is taking place.
  • Build a sense of connectedness between managers and employees through communication initiatives that inspire and support managers to become better leaders.
  • Balance planned communications with unplanned and urgent business needs.
  • Oversee people managers responsible for communication strategies across Splunk’s various internal organizations including Product & Technology, Go to Market, and G&A functions (People, Facilities, Finance, Legal).
  • Drive overall employee communications strategy in alignment with Splunk’s other functional comms leaders (Exec Comms, PR, Social Media); corporate intranet and other internal communications tools; social impact and DE&I programs; global employee kick-offs, and company All Hands events.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience leading an employee communications function at a mid to large company.
  • Ability to interact effectively and influence all levels of leadership, including executive team and CEO.
  • Data-driven and results-oriented in managing and scaling global communications programs, processes and protocols.
  • Experience in high-growth environments and understanding of how to scale great company cultures and manage organizational change efforts.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication. Must be a role model for internal stakeholders and staff.
  • 10+ years of experience managing communication programs and teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. Graduate degree and technology experience welcome.
  • Ready to be part of the team that will tell this decade's most exciting and compelling technology stories.
