Role

Splunk is seeking an individual with hands-on expertise with infrastructure and application monitoring tools, is passionate about connecting users to products, and wakes up every day thinking about new ways to showcase product capabilities and benefits.

In this role, you will be part of a team of product marketing professionals responsible for the positioning, messaging, and integrated go-to-market of Splunk’s Observability solutions. You will be responsible for developing engaging practitioner-level content to build awareness, educate and drive adoption of our products by DevOps personas such as SREs, Cloud engineers, DevOps engineers, software engineers and software developers. You will partner with product, engineering, and other marketing teams to extend Splunk’s reach across the external community, capture mindshare, and increase Splunk’s share of voice for key topics related to observability and DevOps. You should have a passion for storytelling through product, a bias for action, and a burning desire to win.

Domain knowledge and prior experience in marketing to DevOps practitioners is essential. Hands-on expertise in infrastructure monitoring, APM, DEM and logging solutions is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Write technical blog posts and articles for Splunk.com and third party websites
  • Develop technical content, including videos, demos, and other assets to promote product capabilities and benefits
  • Create best practice tutorials for Splunk’s Observability products
  • Deliver webinars and hands-on workshops to demonstrate and accelerate adoption of products
  • Develop technical enablement for sellers and sales engineers
  • Speak at virtual or in-person events to promote and evangelize Splunk’s Observability solutions
  • Participate in online communities & forums with target audiences
  • Partner with product management, engineering and marketing leads to drive Splunk thought leadership

Requirements

  • 7+ years experience in a technical marketing, developer evangelism or other practitioner role - prior experience as a SRE, Cloud engineer, DevOps engineer or software developer/engineer is a huge plus
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure monitoring, APM and logging tools
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure technologies, including virtual machines, containers, Kubernetes, public and private cloud, microservices, serverless functions, service mesh
  • Strong understanding of software development - hands-on experience with common programming languages (Java, Javascript, Go, .NET, etc.) preferred
  • Customer champion, with a drive to go above and beyond to ensure the successful adoption and onboarding of our products
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong affinity for technical writing
  • Love of learning, strong team player, and self-starter who thrives in fast-paced and highly dynamic environments
  • May require travel to industry conferences, customer visits, sales meetings, and other U.S. and international destinations

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
