Our Data Collection team is a dynamic technology group that builds and manages applications and add-ons to ingest data into the Splunk platform for all key cloud, security and IT sources. We deal with challenges of ingesting and processing data at scale and in a reliable and real-time manner. If you possess a passion for extraordinary technology leadership and embrace the challenge of working at the frontier of what is possible in the industry today, then this position is for you.
We are looking for a proven, seasoned engineering leader to lead the data collection products, add-on and content development teams. You will build and lead the teams of engineers who will own all the Splunk supported customer facing products for getting data into Splunk. You have a demonstrated history building and leading both established and emerging engineering talent, while fostering an environment of inclusion, creativity, and innovation. You are someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a track record of technical expertise and management responsibility. You will be responsible for driving your team to work closely across multiple engineering areas and locations.
Your job includes collaborating closely with your peers across all engineering areas as well as product management, program management, SRE, SDET, and UX. We want you to enable every team member to do the best work of their lives. You will be in high demand and this role requires an empathetic leader who can enable frequent product releases while holding a high bar for quality.
Requirements
- Experience leading organizations in delivering cloud systems at scale via the DevOps model.
- A proven track record of setting strategic direction of large-scale organizations.
- Experience hiring and developing of engineers and engineering managers who recognize that operations is a part of their job responsibility and ensure delivery of quality services which reduce incidents and focus on the success of our customers.
- Developing team identity (vision, mission, charter), empowering direct reports and building career growth options for your team
- Develop partnerships with internal organizations, external open source communities and vendors as appropriate to enable a secure platform for customers.
- Experience working within geographically distributed organizations.
- Experience building and cultivating strong engineering practices and processes.
- Consistent track record of successfully delivering scalable, high performance, and high quality software systems.
- Broad understanding of various cloud development technologies and trends for enterprise-scale, distributed systems.
- BS CS/EE or equivalent with 15+ years of industry experience, of which 8+ years is in Engineering Management
