This Senior Manager for the Agent Manager cloud service will design, build and support a new cloud service from the ground up. They will hire, train and lead a team that will own a service to manage millions of agents that send petabytes of data to Splunk Cloud and are mission critical for thousands of customers and to Spunk’s business. The Senior Manager for Agent Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the service including backend, UI and test. Success will be measured by your ability to build and lead your team and integrate it with partner teams and services in the US and Poland, as part of our overall engineering strategy. You will seamlessly tie into our innovative culture and contribute to our excellent record for delivering market leading solutions. You are a seasoned leader with a demonstrated history building and leading both established and emerging engineering talent, while fostering an environment of inclusion, creativity, and innovation.

We are building state-of-the art capabilities, data processing and search systems, support tools, security frameworks and automation instrumentation that will greatly impact how our customers successfully use data to improve their businesses performance, scalability, profitability, and market strategies.

We are looking for a proven, seasoned engineering leader to lead key elements of our customer data onboarding systems. You will build and lead an elite team of engineers who will be working on systems that will power the next generation of Splunk and enable ever deeper customer insights.

In this role, you will:

  • Hire and develop an engineering team that will build and support a new cloud native service that will scale to support millions of clients.
  • Be responsible for all aspects of the service including backend, UI and quality. 
  • Work together and integrate with teams and services across the Splunk cloud ecosystem both in the US and Poland. Attending evening meetings several times a week is a requirement. 
  • Work with Product Management to create a multi-quarter roadmap and execute on it. 
  • Create a world class observability infrastructure to monitor the service and to identify issues before they hit customers.  
  • Setup a 24/7 on-call rotation and resolve customer issues promptly. 
  • Diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles that prevent your team from delivering high-quality software.
  • Champion an atmosphere of continuous improvement by serving as a coach, mentor, and technical advisor.
  • Plan and support career development.
  • Be an advocate of scalable and extensible, recoverable, manageable architecture for Core products and services.

Ideal Experience

  • Built and supported cloud native services at scale, preferably on AWS
  • Led engineering teams working on large scale data pipelines, CI/CD infrastructure and processing systems
  • Worked in large multinational companies (preferably US based), successfully integrated into their organizational structure and culture and established relationships with partner teams.
  • Integrated observability into services
  • Set up and managed 24/7 on-call support rotations
  • Hired and cultivated teams
  • Experience building and cultivating strong engineering practices and processes.
  • Broad understanding of various cloud development technologies and industry trends for enterprise-scale, distributed systems.
  • Strong technical acumen, creativity, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence.
