Role:
The Analytics & Data Platform team (ADP) is responsible for Splunk’s internal data warehousing platform from ingestion to visualization. This platform enables our business partners to make the best data-driven decisions possible. We’re currently searching for a BI Engineer / Tableau Developer to join the team and drive our organization’s metrics initiative to measure and report on projects, capabilities, service offerings, department health, etc. for our organization. This initiative will be highly impactful by empowering business leaders to turn data into doing.

Responsibilities:
- Crafting and maintaining highly visual, user-friendly and interactive dashboards, user interfaces and other reports using Tableau.
- Partnering with mission teams, subject matter experts, and other Splunkers, to understand and detail metric/reporting/visualization requirements.
- Collaborate with analysts and data engineers to establish what data are needed to support identified metrics, and to identify any gaps in data availability.
- Establish, maintain, and publish standards for Tableau usage across the ITS organization.
- Communicate with a customer-first approach both verbally and in written form with our executive customers.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in analysis, design and development of reporting and business intelligence solutions in a data warehouse environment
- 4+ years of data visualization experience with Tableau
- Experience in publishing and maintaining reports, dashboards and data sources in Tableau Server.
- Fluent with data manipulation techniques in Tableau - blending, joining, table calculations and using shared data sources.
- Demonstrable ability to develop database queries (SQL) for analysis and exploration.
- Solid understanding of testing methodology to test dashboards for functionality, data consistency and performance issues.
- Ability to collaborate with data stewards and other individuals throughout the organization to accomplish common goals.
- Ruthlessly organized
- Demonstrated experience with clear and concise verbal and written communication
Preferred Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience working with a modern, columnar datastore (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift).
- Familiarity with formal data modeling paradigms (star & snowflake schemas).
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed as needed.
- Past experience using Splunk.
- A passion for data visualization!
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a STEM field, or equivalent experience.
