Role overview:
The Field Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)-Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will engage, influence, and empathize with the C-level suite and executive buyers at qualified customers, providing an ongoing trusted advisor relationship. As a recognized authority and expert practitioner, this person will be an integral part of the account team to grow opportunities while increasing the adoption and consumption of Splunk capabilities.
Responsibilities: I want and can do it!
This position will have the following responsibilities:
- Engage, build relationships, and influence senior executives within strategic customer accounts to understand their business objectives.
- Adeptly have a conversation with C-Level executives and switch to very technical discussions about Security, IT, and Observability capabilities to facilitate future solution vision.
- Attend Executive Briefing Center (EBC) meetings and act as a well-rounded Subject Matter Expert (SME) with the technical depth to confidently present in front of audiences of all sizes and technical backgrounds. EBC discussions will be led by the Field CISO- CTO and focused on shared business and technical discussion with emphasis on outcomes and benefits associated with Splunk capabilities as opposed to detailed conversations about what and how to implement products.
- Work closely with Sales, Product Management, Product Marketing, and Engineering teams providing insights and feedback thereby enhancing our direct understanding of how Splunk capabilities can be improved upon by tying customer outcomes with Splunk’s product capabilities and product marketing messages.
- Support qualified and strategic sales opportunities with account teams and senior sales leadership by collaborating on account plans by attending internal meetings, joining customer calls and attending customer-facing meetings.
- Understand and help to communicate the value proposition of strategic and tactical concepts for complex customer use cases.
- Participate in internal conversations during the sales lifecycle that will enable a positive influence on key stakeholders.
- Be a thought leader within Splunk, in customer meetings, and in public settings by understanding where and how Splunk’s capabilities enable our customers to overcome their top challenges for their business.
- Closely follow trends and direction to shape customer organization priorities.
- Regularly evangelize solutions as one of our thought leader experts with customers, at industry conferences, trade shows, and partners. [blogging, writing, speaking, industry events, authoring, customer advisory board participant/speaker, executive education, et al]
- Continually increase job-related knowledge and skills through formal education, self-study and independent work.
Requirements: Shown Expertise and Passion
- Deep understanding of security solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and engage in detailed technical discussions and presentations with executives.
- Validated experience in building and being a great partner with customers, partners and collaborators.
- Ability to align technical solutions with business objectives and provide strategic insights.
- Understanding of sales processes and ability to support sales opportunities with the ability to craft and influence account strategies.
- Experience in public speaking, writing, and participating in industry forums and conferences with confidence to act as a spokesperson for the organization's technological vision.
- Insight into industry trends and the ability to apply these insights to craft customer priorities and organizational direction.
- Strong analytical skills to identify challenges and provide innovative solutions.
- Ability to switch between high-level strategic discussions and detailed technical engagements seamlessly.
