Role Summary

At Splunk, we know that effective education is key to our continued success. Are you experienced in developing eLearning on deep technical topics with knowledge of enterprise cloud services, security, or observability solutions?
We are looking for a Senior Technical Course Developer who can quickly master advanced technical subjects in order to craft instructional materials and labs that are concise, accurate, and outcome-based.

What you'll get to do

  • Designs, develops, documents, and maintains exceptional technical instructor-led and eLearning course and assets (design specifications, lab environments, lab data, lab documents, slides, scripts, instructor notes, change logs, bug tracking)
  • Learns quickly, collaborates efficiently, shares knowledge, and is happy to cover new and temporary projects when needed
  • Ensures learning and performance objectives are tailored to the audience and that the training materials meet performance objectives
  • Researches topics independently using all available resources; optimizes subject matter expert time; builds collaborative relationships with colleagues across organizations
  • Accurately scopes projects and estimates time required; consistently meets deadlines and communicates promptly when obstacles arise
  • Works on and manages multiple projects concurrently, monitors activity, progress, and time related to project development
  • Consults widely across organizations to determine objectives
  • Works with internal stakeholders to perform skill gap assessments and build training content to address those gaps

Must-have Qualifications

  • Experience with building courseware for AppDynamics
  • Expert in using at least one eLearning authoring tool such as Articulate 360 (Rise or Storyline), or Adobe Captivate
  • Experience with enterprise-scale SaaS products and cloud computing technologies and cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure), familiar with data collection and analysis tools
  • Able to explain highly technical subject matter such as using APIs; configuring/deploying/administering servers, and “agents” for data collection/ingestion
  • Has 3+ years of software/technology experience
  • Has 6+ years of hands-on experience developing commercial technical eLearning for enterprise SaaS products
  • Is an outstanding problem solver, negotiator, innovator, diversity advocate, and relationship builder
  • Demonstrates excellent time management skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize effectively
  • Possesses high aptitude for managing and solving tactical issues
  • Proven communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment with continuously evolving requirements
  • Has basic graphic design and layout skills

Nice-to-have Qualifications

  • Splunk product experience, linux/unix, SQL, familiarity with machine data, and telemetry data such as metrics, logs, or traces
  • Basic instructional script-writing and video editing skills (Camtasia, Screenflow, etc.)
  • Experience with basic data generation, scripting skills, Kubernetes, Python, Ansible
  • Experience with enterprise tools: Jira, SmartSheet, SalesForce, Confluence, etc.
  • Background in software development, coding, CICD, software quality assurance, technical marketing, technical support, documentation

Education

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $132,000.00 - 181,500.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $118,800.00 - 163,350.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $105,600.00 - 145,200.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
